A patient just shared their bill with another medical practice for a 15 minute office visit. It was $175 out of pocket, not including labs, meds, or supplements.
My price, which I have had for the last 8 years without an increase in prices, would be $67. And I’m a doctor and the other person was a nurse practitioner.
I happen to know her and she’s wonderful, but I have several post doctorates and definitely more experience.
Which brings me to this thought, my office manager has been begging me for years to increase prices, and given how much more we are spending these days, I feel we must finally raise our costs.
Labs will still be affordable, and we are looking at ways to restructure our costs to make sure long time patients are still taken care of. But at the same time we have to afford to keep the doors open.
What are your thoughts? Raise prices? Set up programs that bundle services? Offer payment plans?
Honestly, I want your thoughts and feelings. What ideas have you seen that seemed like a good idea?
I can’t wait to learn your ideas.
