Kevin E Spain, age 63, of Effingham, Illinois passed away on Thursday, May 28, 2026 at his home.

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 1, 2026 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Pagel Funeral Home in St. Elmo, Illinois. Private family services will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Avena Township Cemetery or the donor’s choice. Online condolences may be expressed at www.pagelfuneralhome.com.

Kevin was born on November 10, 1962 in Vandalia, Illinois, the son of Edward Leroy Spain and Aileen Kay (Guffey) Spain. Kevin was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and Miami Dolphins fan. He loved Batman, and collecting hot wheels. He also enjoyed spending time fishing and browsing flea markets.

Kevin is survived by his mother, Kay Spain of St. Elmo; sister, Pam Haslett (Tim) of St. Elmo; step-sons, Grant Green (Trisha) of Salem, and Matt Green of Salem; nephews and nieces, Travis Haslett of St. Elmo, Tyler Haslett of St. Elmo, Toby Haslett (Jeni) of St. Elmo, Traci Thoele (Josh) of Indiana, and Taylor Forston (Neal) of Indiana; great-nephews and nieces, Silas Haslett, Parker Haslett, Saylor Haslett, Mason Thoele, Colson Thoele, and Carter Thoele; and his aunt, Linda Miller of South Carolina.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Julie Spain; wife, Marcia Spain; father, Edward Leroy Spain; brothers, David Spain and Terry Spain; and grandparents, Leonard and Myrll Spain, and Lee and Pearl Guffey.

Connie Sue McWhorter, age 73, of Dieterich, Illinois, passed away Sunday, May 3, 2026, at her grand-daughters residence in Farina, Illinois, surrounded by her loving family.

Connie was born in Effingham, Illinois on August 18, 1952, the daughter of Clarence R. and Helen J. (Reinhardt) Depoister. She married Charles McWhorter on July 26, 2019, in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Connie loved going dancing with Charlie and playing the bass guitar. She enjoyed going to town with her daughter and grandchildren. Family was a blessing to her.
She is survived by her husband, Charlie McWhorter, daughter; Vicki (husband, Abie) Whipple of LaClede, Illinois, step-daughter; Angela Hamlin of Mountain View, Missouri, sister; Judy (husband, Leroy) Krone of Teutopolis, Illinois, grandchildren; Torry (wife, Kelly) Whipple, Marissa (husband, Adrian) Santos, Jr., great-grandchildren, Tinley Santos, Connie Santos, MacKenzie Whipple, Alana Whipple, Abie Whipple IV, step-granddaughter; Cheyenne Mines, numerous nieces and nephews and family friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Geraldine Metcalf, and great-granddaughter, Jedda Santos.

Deana Marie Hollar, age 70, of Edgewood, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at her home in Edgewood surrounded by the love of her family and her fur babies.
A celebration of life service will be held at 8:00 p.m. on May 2nd, 2026, at Pagel Funeral Home, Edgewood, Illinois. Brad Shaw will be officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Edgewood Cemetery, The Chub Club or donor’s choice. Deana was born November 21, 1955 in Effingham, Illinois, the daughter of John R. and Annarea (Dehart) Hollar. Deana loved all animals, especially her cats. She rescued several pets, giving them a home where they experienced love. She was happiest when she was able to give people gifts and see their reactions. She loved to ride her “Trump Train” around town and visiting with everybody. She was a collector of Coca-Cola and Trump memorabilia, and she was a die-hard St. Louis Cardinals fan. She was very proud of her home and yard and there was always a shine on her pick-up truck.
She is survived by her brother, Bob (wife, Carolyn) Hollar of Edgewood, Illinois; nephews, Justin (fiancée, Jeri Kingery) Carruthers of Teutopolis, Illinois, Trey Fulk of Effingham, Illinois, and Friend, Zachary Painter, and many special friends and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents.

Benjamin Ray Boone, Sr., age 78, of Louisville, IL passed away on Monday, April 13, 2026 at the John Cochran VA Medical Center in St. Louis, Missouri surrounded by his family.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at 12:00 noon at the Edgewood American Legion.
Benjamin was born on November 1, 1947 in Effingham, Illinois, the son of Rassie Boone, Jr. and Jewell Peters Bloemker. Benjamin proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He came home and married the love of his life, Susan Lynn Walter, on July 12, 1969. Throughout their marriage, they were blessed with four children. Benjamin’s passion was fishing, but mostly he loved spending time with his family having cookouts and gatherings.
Benjamin is survived by his four children, Benjamin Boone, Jr. (wife Rachael) of Watson, Illinois; Michelle Hubbard (husband Jason) of Flora, Illinois; Shannon Andruss (husband Jason) of Louisville, Illinois; and Russell Boone of Louisville, Illinois; 12 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; stepfather, Garland Bloemker; sisters, Patricia Hotard and Shirley Chatt; brother, Timothy Boone; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Susan; his parents, Rassie Boone, Jr. and Jewell Peters Bloemker; and brothers, Larry Boone and Joseph Boone.
