8/5/26 Update (from Pamela):

Hello! Today marks 2 weeks since my surgery. While I am climbing the walls wanting to get back to work, my neurosurgeon recommends I wait 2 more weeks. I met with him Monday, and he is very pleased with my recovery in every aspect. He said that brain surgery is always risky, but this outcome is always the goal. Along every stage of this process I have experienced the best case scenario. I am meeting and exceeding all of his expectations. He said, "You had a huge brain surgery. Take a little bit of time off!" πŸ˜‚
We scheduled a follow-up appointment on the 19th of this month to monitor my incision. If all is good, I will have no restrictions.

We scheduled a follow up MRI for November 9th, which will become our new "baseline". If that scan is normal, we should be able to simply recheck imaging annually.

I have had 2 speech therapy sessions, and Megan is very pleased with my progress. Since discontinuing keppra, my cognitive ability has significantly improved. My "word finding" ability has been on a steady incline. Since my diagnosis on June 10th, I have been Journaling to help me remember and stay organized. This has been my compensatory strategy towards resilience, according to Megan. 😁

Thank you for the prayers, well wishes and support. I have to remind myself to let my faith be bigger than my fears. May I start and end my to-do lists with prayers of thanksgiving. With just a brush of His spirit, my day has taken on the color of hope. πŸ’œπŸ’œ

7/29/26 Update (from Pam):

It has been 1 week since my surgery and I'm doing great! Yesterday I met with my home health nurse who checked my vitals and assessed my needs cognitively. Then I met with the speech therapist(Megan) who evaluated me, saw my deficiencies, and came up with a game plan to help me improve. They were both impressed with my progress to date and are very optimistic for where I will land once my healing has completed. In addition, Megan feels that my cognition will significantly improve once I finish my pain and seizure meds, which really impair speech and focus. There are so many things to be thankful for and so much to be hopeful about! Keep up the prayers and well wishes. They are working! I am so appreciative of all of the people who care about me and are looking out for me. And of course I am so thankful for my dedicated staff who is holding down the fort while I'm recuperating. They give me multiple updates per day since they know I like to micromanage things. πŸ˜‚ Gary is meeting my needs here at the house, and he took me on a small adventure yesterday. I chose the right life partner for sure. I have lots to be grateful for in my life. God isn't done with me!

Latest update (from Pam):

7/24/26

I'm HOME!! I got home around 11am today. I'm feeling great considering what I've been through. Today is the first day without a headache, and the pain around my incision is minimal. Props to my neurosurgical team, ICU staff and neuro unit staff. They have all been amazing. And of course my husband,Gary, who has been phenomenal throughout all of this. Thanks for all of your prayers and well wishes. It has lifted my spirits, given me hope and is helping me heal. And all the glory goes to God.
PS I just read the biopsy report. It is a meningioma (benign) grade 1, which means I probably won't require radiation therapy at this time. I will recheck with the neurosurgeon in 2 weeks (August 3rd), and will have a CT scan. Meanwhile I will start speech therapy to help with my "word finding" issues and losing my train of thought, which has been going on for the last year. Please keep the positive vibes and prayers coming. I need all I can get. But I am ambulatory, active and in good spirits, which is more than I expected at this point. Thanks to everyone who played a part in this chapter of my life. I appreciate you more than you know!

July 23. 2026 - 7:30 PM - Pam Update

Sorry for the late post, but today has been a long tiring day for the two of us. Pam had a MRI done at 3:00 this morning to look for any issues that may have occurred from the surgery. Everything looked okay and they didn't see any problems.

We saw the neurosurgeon around 7:30 this morning. He was pleased with her post-surgical progress and decided that Pam could be transferred from ICU to the neuro unit of OLOL Hospital. The transfer took place around 1:30 this afternoon ( she is in room 5240).

The doctor's and therapists will meet with us tomorrow morning to determine the next course in her treatment / recovery.

Please continue to keep Pam in your thoughts and prayers as the healing process begins. St. Francis Animal Medical Center, LLC remains open and available for your fur babies needs. Please don't hesitate to call the office if you are in need of care.

Good Morning Everyone! We have arrived at the hospital and Pam is being prepped for surgery. The CT scan was done and her catheter is in place.

Please keep Pam in your thoughts and prayers throughout the day.

This will be the official surgery update thread for today's procedure.

6:30 am....she is headed to the surgery room. I got 2 kisses in before they rolled her back.

7:00 am.....surgery has started.

9:45 am.....just talked to the surgeon, surgery went well and she is in recovery now. The tumor was a solid mass that had invaded her skull and was also attached to the main vein supplying her brain. Surgeon says that he couldn't remove a small amount of the tumor as it was too dangerous to remove from this critical vein.

Now waiting for her to be moved to ICU.

11:15 am....she is headed to have a post-op CT scan.

3:00 pm.....Pam has been moved to ICU now. She is having some minor memory and speech issues at the moment.

There are no significant updates to share at this time regarding Pam's appointment with the neurosurgeon. The surgery scheduler is on vacation and will return to work next Monday, after which a surgery date will be scheduled. The surgeon provided a positive prognosis for her recovery from surgery. Your continued prayers and support are greatly appreciated.
