Your cornea is more than a transparent window - it is the eye's first major optical surface.

Unlike most tissues, the cornea has no blood vessels. This helps maintain its transparency, allowing light to pass through with minimal scattering. It receives oxygen primarily from the air through the tear film, while nutrients also reach it from tears and the fluid inside the eye.
