Our Social Worker Tammy did a cheese and cracker social for her Manager Activity. She brought a variety of soft and hard cheeses and cracker for them to enjoy. Havarti cheese and Black Truffle wit Sea Salt were the favorites!

We had such a wonderful morning thanks to the Mackinaw Bakery. Among the group, we brought two Mackinaw City residents - one whose father started the business! They enjoyed seeing the upgrades and visiting with lots of familiar faces… and enjoyed delicious smoothies and donuts.

As of Wednesday... Michigan is under a statewide Air Quality Alert due to smoke from Canadian wildfires. Mackinac Straits Health System continues to the monitor the situation. All our facilities remain open including Evergreen Living Center. Appropriate response measures have been initiated at our St. Ignace Campus, including ventilation management and ongoing assessments of affected areas. Additional air filtration units are being brought in. We will continue to monitor conditions closely and provide updates as needed. Those with respiratory issues should limit their time outdoors during these conditions.

We were excited to help celebrate with one of our Dietary Aides, Kylee, as she prepares for her wedding next month! Residents and staff played bridal shower games, shared funny wedding stories and advice, and enjoyed more of Lynann’s delicious cake. Best wishes to Kylee and Chase!

It certainly was a day filled with love as residents, staff, and families helped celebrate the upcoming birth of our CNA Zach’s first baby! We were so excited his wife Maria was able to join us to honor them and show our excitement for their baby girl! The afternoon was filled with a delicious cake from our Administrative Assistant Lynann, shower games, and gifts!

We are so appreciative for the group Ladies with Babies for their generous donation of four life-like babies for our residents to enjoy and care for. They are already very much loved!

It was a gorgeous day for a fish fry at the Evergreen! Residents keep asking, so we delivered: for her Manager Activity, our Recreational Therapist Lani included her family to come to fry fresh whitefish and hush puppies. A big THANK YOU goes out to King’s Fish Market in Moran for donating the fish.

We had so much fun this morning trying out our new NEX Playground video game system! This new system is hands-free, therefore it is very simple for residents to play! We all had lots of laughs – and worked up a sweat!
