💪 Your core is more than just your abs!

Your core includes the muscles of your stomach, back, hips, and pelvis. Together they stabilize your spine, support good posture, and help your upper and lower body work together efficiently.

Why does core stability matter?
✨ Supports better posture and may help reduce neck and back pain.
✨ Makes everyday tasks like putting on shoes, carrying groceries, and climbing stairs easier.
✨ Improves balance and stability, especially on uneven ground, which can help reduce the risk of falls.
✨ Helps improve athletic performance and may lower your risk of injury.

💥A strong, flexible core supports almost everything you do!

Here are 3 simple exercises to improve core stability:

1️⃣ Pallof Press

This anti-rotation exercise teaches your core to resist twisting, improving strength and stability.

2️⃣ Glute Bridge

Glute bridges strengthen your glutes while also engaging your deep core, pelvic floor, and lower back stabilizers.

3️⃣ Bird Dog (or Modified Bird Dog!)

This exercise builds core stability, balance, and lower back strength by challenging you to keep your spine stable while moving opposite limbs. It can be done on the floor or with your hands on a counter or dresser for a modified version.

🗣️Talk to your Physical Therapist at your next appointment to see if these would be beneficial to add in to your routine!

🖲️This week, our PTA student, Jessi, presented a BlazePod Reference guide for our team. BlazePod is an incredible tool we use to improve balance, agility, cognitive reaction time, and more.

⏰Her guide has already streamlined our BlazePod setup process, allowing us to spend less time preparing equipment and more time focusing on what matters most: our patients.

🧠We value continuous learning and love sharing knowledge that helps our team provide the best possible care.

📝Over the past eight weeks, Jessi has completed her first clinical rotation with us as part of PTA school, and it’s been a pleasure having her on our team. Reflecting on her experience, Jessi shared that it has been “nice to put it all together and work with patients after learning so much in different classes.”

🎉Working alongside our PTA, Megan, Jessi observed, asked thoughtful questions, and gradually put her new knowledge and skills into practice through Megan’s mentorship. We are grateful to have been part of her clinical journey. Wishing you all the best in the rest of your PTA program, Jessi—we know you’ll do great things! 🎓

⚽️Do you want to decrease injuries in your athletes?

🏃🏻‍♀️Your training and game-day warm-up are key to injury prevention!

🥅The FIFA 11+ warm-up was developed by a panel of international experts to decrease injuries, specifically in soccer.

➡️However, this warm-up has been used by other dynamic sports such as football, basketball, baseball, lacrosse, and volleyball to keep athletes stronger and healthier for the duration of the season.

🏆 It’s so successful that many World Cup teams use this warm-up as a core training and injury prevention protocol. See if you can spot these exercises in the warm-ups!

Key Notes:
⭐️It’s important to go through the warm-up sequentially.

⭐️Start athletes at Level 1 in Part 2 of the warm-up, & only advance athletes to the next level when they can perform all of the exercises correctly.

⭐️This warm-up is only successful if it is performed at LEAST twice a week. Consistency is key to developing neuromuscular control in athletes which will help decrease the likelihood of injury.

⭐️On training(practice) days, complete the full warm-up. On game days complete the running exercises: Part 1 & Part 3.

⭐️Coach and correct athletes on proper form and body mechanics. Good body control is crucial to injury prevention.

⏰Just 20 minutes each training session can have a huge impact on the outcome of your season!

👀Check out this video by E3 Rehab. They walk you through the set-up and ex*****on of the warm-up.

🥾Going for a hike this weekend, playing pickleball, or taking a nice leisurely walk? Guess what plays a major role in all those activities? Your ankles!

🦴Having strong and stable ankles plays a bigger role in our mobility and joint health than most of us realize.

🏃🏻‍♀️They provide the foundation for so many everyday movements—walking up the stairs, getting up from a chair, going for a jog, working in the garden, and so much more.

↕️Our ankles act as the body’s shock absorbers and stabilizers. Every jump, step, and pivot depends on them. When ankle stability is compromised—from a roll, sprain, or tweak—it can affect much more than just the ankle itself.

💥It can place added stress on our knees, hips, and back, which could lead to muscle imbalances, changes in the way we move, and an increased risk of re-injury or falls over time.

✨In short: Healthy ankles help keep your whole body moving well. Taking care of them today can help you stay active, mobile, and able to do the things you love tomorrow!

⏰Movement Break Reminder!

So many of us sit or stand for long periods of time throughout the day. Moving frequently is good for your ♥️ and overall health!

➡️Aim to get up and move around for 2-3 (or more, if you can!) every 30-60 minutes.

Some tips to help:
🚨Set an timer or alarm on your watch or phone as a reminder.
🏃🏻‍♀️Go for a quick walk around office, to deliver a message to a coworker, or to the copier!
🥗Take a 5-10 min walk after lunch.
🖥️Stand up at your desk and do 10 squats or walk in place.
☎️Pace during phone calls to get some extra steps in!

Comment below how you keep moving during the day! ⬇️
