A mama in our practice once shared a story we’ll never forget.
Her daughter had been struggling with tics, anxiety, and focus. As her nervous system began to regulate, things started changing. The tics nearly disappeared. She was laughing more. Focusing longer.
And then something unexpected happened — she started talking about her future.
One day, she told her mom she wanted to become a therapist so she could help other people through hard things.
For many families, that might sound like an ordinary conversation.
For this family? It felt like hope. In her mama’s own words, it was “an answer to prayer.”
That’s why we love hearing what kids say as they progress through care. Not because the words themselves are remarkable, but because of what they represent.
When a child is no longer spending so much energy adapting to stress, struggling to regulate, or simply trying to get through the day, it creates space for connection, confidence, growth, and possibility.
Sometimes that looks like calmer days or stronger focus. And sometimes it looks like a child beginning to dream about who they want to become.
And who they become can change the world.
