Way to go, NMPRC team! π§Έπ
PROJECT: SOFT LANDING π§Έ
STATUS: SUCCESS π
Social Work students from the Northwest Missouri Psychiatric Rehabilitation Center team developed Project Soft Landing in partnership with Missouri Western State University as an initiative to provide new stuffed animals to patients at NMPRC. Research and clinical experience suggest that comforting objects, such as stuffed animals, can have positive therapeutic effects for some patients.
Over 100 stuffies π§Έ have been collected to date! The project kick off was held at MWSU with a campus "Teddy Bear Toss" on February 19th. Students shared a donation message explaining NMPRC's mission and the intended therapeutic purpose of the donations.
The NMPRC team has already observed positive benefits in a few patients including improved comfort and engagement. The treatment team will manage the process for identifying which patients may benefit and how the initiative will be introduced appropriately.
Well done, NMPRC!
