Today, we celebrate the fathers, grandfathers, stepfathers, foster fathers, mentors, caregivers, and father figures who have shared their love, wisdom, strength, and support with others. We also hold space for those who may be missing a loved one, navigating a complicated relationship, or carrying the memory of someone who made a lasting impact on their life.

To all who have offered encouragement, protection, laughter, and unconditional love, thank you. Your presence helps build stronger families, communities, and connections across generations.

Happy Father's Day from all of us at Ascend Rehab. 💙

Juneteenth is a celebration of freedom, resilience, and the ongoing pursuit of equity. This year, honor the day by turning reflection into action.

Here are a few ways to get involved locally:
❤️ Attend a Juneteenth community celebration or cultural event
📚 Support Black-owned businesses, artists, and organizations in your community
🤝 Volunteer with local nonprofits focused on education, equity, or community development
🎓 Learn more about African American history and share what you discover with others
🗣️ Engage in meaningful conversations about race, justice, and inclusion

Looking for more ways to celebrate, learn, and take action? The Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture offers a variety of educational resources, reading lists, discussion guides, digital exhibits, and Juneteenth materials designed to help individuals and families deepen their understanding of this important holiday.

For nearly a year, Ascend Rehabilitation speech-language pathologist Lily Egan has been working alongside Beverly, a resident at Oxbow Lake, after a stroke affected Beverly’s ability to communicate clearly.

Together, they’ve practiced conversation strategies, everyday interactions and personalized speech techniques to help Beverly communicate more confidently with the people around her.

Recently, another team member shared that hearing Beverly speak clearly “brought tears to my eyes.”

Moments like these are why speech therapy matters. Small victories can mean everything. Thank you, Lily, for the compassion, patience and expertise you bring to residents each day.
