Please help us welcome Jake Todd to the Crossover Physical Therapy team! 🎉

Because we like to have fun and are just a little bit nerdy, we welcomed him the only way we knew how when your name is Jake... with a few State Farm jokes mixed in. 😄

We're excited to have Jake join our team and can't wait for our patients to get to know him. His knowledge, energy, and passion for helping others make him a great addition to the Crossover family.

Welcome aboard, Jake! We look forward to working with you and are excited for our patients to work with you as well.

🚴‍♀️ Tingling, Numbness, or Discomfort While Riding?

You may be experiencing neural compression, a common issue among cyclists caused by prolonged pressure or poor posture. The two most common areas affected are the hands and the pelvic region.

✋ The HandsSpending long periods gripping the handlebars can put pressure on the nerves in your palms. This may lead to numbness or tingling in your fingers:
• Pinky and ring finger symptoms are often related to the ulnar nerve
• Thumb, index, and middle finger symptoms are often related to the median nerve

To help reduce hand numbness:
✔️ Wear cushioned cycling gloves
✔️ Change hand positions frequently✔️ Check your weight distribution on the bike
✔️ Adjust the angle and position of your handlebars

🚴 The Pelvic RegionLong hours on the saddle can place pressure on the pudendal nerve and surrounding blood vessels, leading to numbness, discomfort, or pain.

To help reduce pelvic compression:
✔️ Use a saddle with a pressure-relieving cutout
✔️ Ensure your saddle height and angle are properly adjusted
✔️ Wear padded cycling shorts
✔️ Consider a professional bike fit

The good news? Many of these issues can be prevented with proper bike setup, quality gear, and attention to riding posture. If numbness or pain is affecting your rides, physical therapy and a professional bike fit can help

🚴‍♂️ Neck Pain While Biking? You're Not Alone!

Neck pain is one of the most common complaints among cyclists, especially if you're riding with poor posture or an overextended neck position.

A few common causes include:
✔️ A bike that isn't properly fitted to your body
✔️ Handlebars that are too high or too low
✔️ A helmet or glasses that cause you to tilt your head back excessively
✔️ Locked elbows and a tight grip on the handlebars

When riding, try to keep your neck in a neutral position and look approximately 20 feet ahead of you. Instead of lifting your head to see farther down the road, use your eyes to scan the distance.

A stiff grip and extended arms can also create tension in your upper traps and shoulders, leading to neck soreness. Focus on keeping your hands relaxed, your elbows slightly bent, and your upper body loose.

The good news? Sometimes a simple adjustment during a professional bike fit can make a huge difference in your comfort and performance.

If neck pain is limiting your rides, our team can help identify the cause and get you back on the bike comfortably! 🚲

🚴 Ever heard of a FOOSH injury?

FOOSH stands for “Fall On Outstretched Hand” — and it’s one of the most common injuries we see from biking falls.

When you instinctively put your hands out to catch yourself during a crash or sudden fall, the force can travel through the hand, wrist, elbow, shoulder, and even the collarbone. This can lead to:
• Wrist sprains or fractures
• Shoulder pain
• Rotator cuff injuries
• Elbow injuries
• Decreased mobility and strength

Whether you took a spill on the trail, road, or pavement, physical therapy can help you recover safely and confidently. At Crossover Physical Therapy, we help address pain, restore mobility and strength, improve balance and stability, and get you back to riding comfortably.

Sometimes it’s not just about healing the injury — it’s about helping you feel confident getting back on the bike again. 🚴‍♂️

🚴 Knee pain while biking isn’t something you should just “push through.”

“Biker’s knee” is a common issue cyclists experience and can be caused by things like:
• Poor bike fit
• Seat height that’s too high or too low
• Increased mileage too quickly
• Muscle imbalances or weakness
• Poor riding mechanics

Pain in the front, side, or back of the knee can make rides less enjoyable and may worsen over time if ignored.

The good news? Small adjustments and the right treatment plan can make a big difference. Physical therapy can help address the root cause so you can get back to riding stronger and more comfortably. 🚴‍♀️
