Anxiety doesn't always look the way people expect. Sometimes it's constant overthinking. Sometimes it's trouble sleeping, avoiding situations that once felt easy, or feeling like you're always on edge.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) helps you understand the connection between your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors so you can break the cycle of anxiety and build healthier coping skills. It is one of the most effective, evidence-based treatments for anxiety and can help children, teens, and adults find lasting relief.

At Northwest Family Counseling, we're proud to serve individuals and families throughout the Twin Cities metro with compassionate, personalized care. If anxiety has been keeping you from living the life you want, we're here to help you take the first step toward feeling more confident and in control.

Motherhood can be beautiful, but it can also be incredibly challenging. If you've been feeling overwhelmed, anxious, disconnected, or persistently sad after having a baby, you're not alone. Postpartum depression affects many new mothers, and it is both common and treatable.

You don't have to carry these feelings by yourself. Seeking support is a sign of strength, not failure. With compassionate counseling, many women find relief, rebuild their confidence, and begin to enjoy this new season of life.

At Northwest Family Counseling, we provide postpartum depression therapy for women throughout Buffalo, St. Michael, Albertville, Delano, Monticello, Rogers, Otsego, Hanover, and the northwest Twin Cities metro.

If you're ready to take the first step toward healing, we're here to help.

Obsessive-compulsive disorder is more than being organized or liking things a certain way. OCD can involve persistent intrusive thoughts and compulsive behaviors that make everyday life feel exhausting.

The good news is that effective treatment is available. For many people, medication management combined with evidence-based therapy can reduce symptoms and make daily life more manageable.

Michelle Jarman, PMHNP-BC, provides personalized psychiatric medication management at Northwest Family Counseling, working collaboratively with each client to determine whether medication is the right fit and to develop an individualized treatment plan.

If OCD is affecting your life or someone you care about, you don’t have to face it alone. Contact Northwest Family Counseling to learn more about medication management and schedule an appointment with Michelle.

Do you and your partner keep having the same argument, even when you both want things to change?

Many couples become caught in patterns where one person pushes for resolution while the other withdraws. Over time, repeated conflict can lead to defensiveness, resentment, emotional distance, and a growing sense that neither partner feels fully heard.

The Gottman Method offers a research-informed approach to understanding these patterns. Marriage counseling can help couples recognize what happens during conflict, communicate concerns more clearly, rebuild trust after hurt, and strengthen the friendship at the center of their relationship.

A strong marriage is not one without disagreements. It is a relationship where couples can learn healthier ways to navigate conflict, repair after difficult moments, and stay connected through changing seasons of life.

Northwest Family Counseling supports couples in Buffalo, St. Michael, Wright County, and surrounding Minnesota communities who want to better understand their relationship and build healthier patterns together.

Anxiety can affect every part of a teenager’s life, from school and friendships to sleep, confidence, and family relationships. While therapy is often the first step in treatment, some adolescents benefit from medication as part of a comprehensive care plan.

Medication is never a one-size-fits-all solution. Every teenager is different, and decisions about medication should be made thoughtfully, based on a thorough evaluation of their symptoms, medical history, and treatment goals. When medication is appropriate, it can help reduce anxiety symptoms so teens are better able to participate in therapy, build healthy coping skills, and enjoy everyday life.

At Northwest Family Counseling, we believe in partnering with families to create individualized treatment plans that support each teenager’s long-term emotional well-being. Medication management for adolescents is available at our Buffalo and Hutchinson offices, as well as through secure online appointments for eligible clients throughout Minnesota.

If your teenager is struggling with anxiety, you do not have to navigate it alone. We are here to help your family explore treatment options and find the support that best meets your child’s needs.
