Every Sunday night, the same battle begins.

The stomach aches.
The tears.
The panic.
And by Monday morning, getting your child into school feels impossible.

If you've been told your child is "just anxious," "being manipulative," or needs to "push through it," we want you to know there may be much more going on beneath the surface.

In our newest blog, we explore why school refusal is often rooted in nervous system dysregulation—not defiance.

You'll learn:
✔️ The difference between school refusal and truancy
✔️ Why the brain's survival response can make school feel genuinely unsafe
✔️ How the vagus nerve influences digestion, emotional regulation, and resilience
✔️ Why stomach aches and panic are often connected
✔️ How Neurological INSiGHT Scans help identify underlying nervous system stress

When we stop asking, *"Why won't my child go to school?"* and start asking, *"What is their nervous system trying to tell us?"* everything begins to change.

If your child has been diagnosed with both ADHD and autism, you may be seeing hyperactivity, sensory overload, big emotions, meltdowns, aggression, or difficulty regulating.

But what if those behaviors are connected to what's happening underneath the surface?

In this video, Dr. Tye shares the story of a five-year-old boy diagnosed with both ADHD and autism who was struggling with sensory sensitivities, dysregulation, aggression, and coordination.

After about six weeks of care, his mom reported a 70% improvement. His meltdowns became less frequent, intense anger episodes decreased, and he was able to self-calm more easily. She also noticed improvements in sleep, bladder control, and swimming.

The focus wasn't simply on treating the behaviors. Instead, the goal was to look at the foundation of neurological development, including the autonomic nervous system, sensory processing, and neuromotor coordination.

If your child is struggling with ADHD, autism, sensory processing, or emotional regulation, this video will help you better understand why looking deeper may matter. 💛

Happy Transformation Thursday! 💛

We had a really sweet win shared by a mom this week about her three-year-old daughter.

Last summer, she really struggled with the feeling of water on her skin. Anytime she got into the pool, she'd cling to Mom and have a hard time settling in enough to enjoy it.

But just last week, everything looked different.

She got into the pool and had a blast. 🏊‍♀️

Mom also shared another big win. She used to always want shoes on because she didn't like the feeling of grass on her feet. This time, she went barefoot in the grass for the first time ever. 🌱

These might seem like small things, but for a child with sensory sensitivities, they're huge.

As her sensory system becomes better able to process the world around her, she's able to feel more comfortable, more grounded, and more connected in her body.

And when the nervous system isn't constantly overwhelmed by sensory input, there's more room for a kiddo to simply enjoy being a kid.

We love celebrating these wins with our families. 💛

Growth spurts, teething, school stress, illness, and even changes in sleep can put extra demands on a child’s nervous system.

And sometimes you’ll notice it through things like crankiness, disrupted sleep, sensory overwhelm, or changes in how they’re feeling and behaving.

At Whole Family Chiropractic, we sometimes use what we call boost adjustments during these higher-stress seasons. These are additional adjustments outside of a child’s regular care schedule, designed to provide extra neurological input when their system may be handling more than usual.

Every kiddo responds differently, and the goal is always to meet their nervous system where it is without overwhelming it.

If your family is already under care and your child is going through a particularly stressful season, ask us whether an additional visit might make sense for them. 💛

Does every transition feel like a battle?

Leaving the park.
Turning off the iPad.
Getting dressed for school.
Going to bed.

If even the smallest change leads to a meltdown, you're not alone—and it may not be a behavior problem at all.

In our newest blog, we explore why transitions are so difficult for many children with ADHD, anxiety, and sensory processing challenges, and how a dysregulated nervous system can make everyday changes feel overwhelming.

Inside you'll learn:
✔️ Why transitions require more from the brain than most people realize
✔️ How stress keeps the nervous system stuck in "go mode"
✔️ Why reward charts and consequences often don't solve the problem
✔️ Practical strategies you can use at home
✔️ When it's time to look deeper at the nervous system itself

When we understand what's happening beneath the behavior, we can finally start helping kids instead of simply managing meltdowns.

🍽️ Is your child an extremely picky eater, or could there be something deeper going on?

In this video, Dr. Tye shares the story of a 3½-year-old girl who had struggled with eating since she was a toddler. After just a few weeks of neurologically focused chiropractic care, her mom noticed a dramatic change. She was asking for food, chewing better, swallowing more easily, and eating meals without the usual battles.

Learn how the nerves involved in chewing, swallowing, digestion, and the vagus nerve all play an important role in helping kids eat naturally.

If you're looking for answers beyond "they'll grow out of it," this video is for you.

This week's Transformation Thursday is about an 11-year-old girl whose progress has been such an encouragement to her family. ✨

She first came to our office because of bedwetting, and we're so excited to see her making great progress with more dry nights.

But one of the biggest surprises for her mom has been her sleep.

Before starting care, it was incredibly difficult for her daughter to wind down at night. She was often the last person awake in the house, even after her parents and siblings had gone to bed. No matter how tired she seemed, her body just couldn't relax.

Now, her mom says she's often one of the first ones asleep. 🌙

As her nervous system has become calmer and more regulated, she's been able to settle into sleep more naturally and enjoy deeper, more restful nights.

Quality sleep is foundational for growing kids. It supports emotional regulation, learning, healing, and overall well-being. Seeing these changes reminds us how important a healthy, balanced nervous system can be. 🧠💙

We're so grateful to be part of this family's journey and can't wait to celebrate even more milestones ahead.
