Mable Elizabeth Penfield

Mrs. Mable Elizabeth Penfield, age 93, of Saint Pauls, North Carolina, departed this life peacefully on Thursday, June 4, 2026 at GlenFlora in Lumberton.

Born on October 2, 1932, in Robeson County, North Carolina, Mable was the daughter of the late Neil Archie Parnell and the late Lena Bell Holder Parnell. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Marshall Penfield; her son, Robert E. Penfield; her brother, Murray Mack Parnell, Sr. and several other brothers and her sisters, Myrlene Parnell and Letha Mae Parnell.

Mable was a hardworking woman who spent many years working in the textile industry. She enjoyed the simple pleasures of life and found joy in people watching, playing bingo, and especially enjoying meals from Ferguson’s Restaurant.

Left to cherish her precious memories are her children, Tommy Penfield (Jan), Joe Penfield (Lana), Danny Ray Penfield (Jennifer), Rudy Lennon (Melinda), and Rose Marie Lewis; 11 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and great-great-great grandchildren; along with a host of extended family and friends who will deeply miss her.

A visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at McNeill-Legacy Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service at 3:00 p.m. at Oak Ridge Cemetery.

McNeill-Legacy Funeral Home is honored to serve the Penfield family.

Kevin Dean Tart

Mr. Kevin Dean Tart, of St. Pauls, North Carolina, passed away May 25, 2026 at the age of 54.

Kevin was born on March 10, 1972, in Cumberland County, North Carolina, to the late Earl Tart, Jr. and Marylyn Louise Tart.

Kevin was a dedicated press operator and faithfully worked with Zurn Elkay Water Solutions for over 30 years. He deeply loved his work family and took pride in his years of service.

He enjoyed NASCAR, attending and participating in car shows, and spending time with those he loved. Kevin especially treasured his family and friends and was a loving father, grandfather, and friend to many. He also dearly loved his faithful dog, Bubba.

Kevin leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Jerrica Lynn Tart of St. Pauls; three grandchildren, Ny’Mere Scott, Narley Scott, and Najavie Scott; he is also survived by Ashlyn Brown of Miami and Stephen Brown of St. Pauls; his best friend, Stevie Chavis; his work supervisor, Earl Bullard, along with a host of other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, Kevin was preceded in death by his brother, Randy Tart, and sister, Debbie Wilson.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, June 7, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at the McNeill-Legacy Funeral Home Chapel. A visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service. Reverend Kim Rose will officiate.

Mr. Daniel Lee Johnson, age 40, of Lumber Bridge, North Carolina, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, May 23, 2026.

Born on April 12, 1986, in Robeson County, North Carolina, Daniel was the son of the late Jefferson Emanuel and Melinda Harding. He worked in construction and was known as a man who loved his family and friends.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving mother, Melinda Harding; his daughters, Liyanah Johnson, and Karalyna Johnson; his brothers, Jason Johnson, John Harding, David Harding, and Vander Harding, Jr.; his aunts, Sherry Emanuel, Brenda Russell (Steve), and Felicia Burruss (Chris); his cousin, Abigail Burruss; along with a host of other relatives and friends who will forever cherish his memory.

In addition to his father, Daniel was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Julius and Ometter Johnson, and his paternal grandmother, Bonnie Emanuel.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, June 1, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. in the McNeill-Legacy Funeral Home Chapel.

Eralcio Bello Filomeno

Eralcio Bello Filomeno, de St. Pauls, Carolina del Norte, falleció el 15 de mayo de 2026.

Nacido el 12 de julio de 1984 en Copalillo, Guerrero, México, Eralcio fue hijo de Granciano Bello Regino y Francisca Filomeno Regino. Trabajó como trabajador de línea y estuvo empleado en Prestige Farms. Era un hombre trabajador, dedicado a su familia y apreciado por quienes lo conocieron.

Eralcio deja para atesorar su memoria a su amada esposa, Marcelina Santos Hipolito; sus cuatro hijos; sus padres, Granciano Bello Regino y Francisca Filomeno Regino; además de ocho hermanos, junto con numerosos familiares y amigos que lamentan profundamente su partida.

Eralcio Bello Filomeno, of St. Pauls, North Carolina, passed away on May 15, 2026.

Born on July 12, 1984, in Copalillo, Guerrero, Mexico, Eralcio was the son of Granciano Bello Regino and Francisca Filomeno Regino. He worked as a line worker and was employed by Prestige Farms. He was a hardworking man, devoted to his family and appreciated by all who knew him.

Eralcio leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Marcelina Santos Hipolito; his four children; his parents, Granciano Bello Regino and Francisca Filomeno Regino; as well as eight siblings, along with many extended family members and friends who will deeply mourn his passing.

His memory will forever remain in the hearts of all who loved him.

Betty Jean Evers

Betty Jean Evers, 86, of Hope Mills, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2026 at Duke University Medical Center in Durham.

Born on June 21, 1939, in Cumberland County, North Carolina, Betty was the daughter of the late John Gray Riddle and Lucy Cain Riddle. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jimmy Ray Evers, as well as her brothers, Robert Riddle and Joseph B. Riddle.

Betty dedicated much of her life to serving her community as a school bus driver for Cumberland County Public Schools, faithfully transporting and caring for students for more than 30 years. She was known for her kindness, dependability, and caring spirit. A woman of faith, Betty was a devoted member of Green Springs Baptist Church, where she found joy in worship and fellowship. She was also active in the Green Springers Senior Citizen Group. Betty had a deep love for music and especially enjoyed playing the piano and singing, sharing her talents and love of music with those around her.

She leaves to cherish her memory her sons, David Thaggard (Vickie), Rodney Thaggard (Sheila), and Steven Thaggard (Lynn); sisters, Barbara A. Peters and Frances Whittaker; seven grandchildren, David L., Dana, Jake, Tabatha, Traci, Kara and John; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at Green Springs Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Steve Kirk. Visitation will be held beginning at 11:00 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Green Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Green Springers Senior Citizen Group c/o Green Springs Baptist Church, 1095 E. Green Springs Rd., Parkton, NC 28371.

🇺🇸 Memorial Day Veteran Flag Placement 🇺🇸

McNeill-Legacy Funeral Home warmly invites members of the St. Pauls community to join us Friday morning at 8:30 a.m. at Oak Ridge Cemetery as we honor the brave men and women who served our country by placing American flags on the graves of our veterans in observance of Memorial Day.

Following Oak Ridge Cemetery, we will be visiting several cemeteries throughout the area to continue this meaningful tribute.

We welcome volunteers of all ages to come be a part of honoring the sacrifices made by our nation’s heroes.

Mr. Jadan William Hardy, age 19, of St. Pauls, North Carolina, departed this life on Friday, May 15, 2026.

Born on March 30, 2007, in Cumberland County, North Carolina, Jadan was the beloved son of William Dale Hardy and Cindy Hyatt Hardy.

Jadan will be remembered for his love of riding dirt bikes and for the joy he found in spending time with those he loved most, especially his nieces.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories: his parents, William Dale Hardy and Cindy Hyatt Hardy of St. Pauls; his brothers, Jesse William Hardy and William Dalton Hardy; his sisters, Chyiene Gale Hardy and Christina Hardy; his nieces, Abby Gale Prevatte and Willo Gale Prevatte; his nephew, Maddox Walker Lemons; along with a host of other relatives and friends.

A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, May 22, 2026, at 4:30 p.m. at Oak Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at McNeill Legacy Funeral Home in St. Pauls
