We can’t choose everything that happens in life, but we can choose how we respond.

Staying true to ourselves and knowing what matters most is a pretty powerful thing.

When your baby is having a baby…

There’s a moment in life that feels almost impossible to describe.

The baby you once held in your arms is now carrying a baby of her own.

It’s excitement. It’s joy. It’s a little bit of worry. It’s remembering the sleepless nights, the first smiles, the milestones, and all the moments that brought you here.

And then suddenly… you’re watching your daughter become the mother you always hoped she would be.

You realize you didn’t just raise a little girl… you raised a capable, loving woman who is ready for this next chapter.

Full circle.

Motherhood has a way of connecting generations in the most beautiful ways.

If you know… you know. Ladies, feel free to send this to your significant other. No explanation necessary.Happy Friday!

Starting college is often the time when students will be managing their own healthcare. Preparation will be the key to access the best care when it is needed. Here are some things we recommend:
* Copy of insurance card as well as contact information for their prior doctor
* List of all medications, including over-the-counter medications and how to access refills
* List with dates of chronic medical conditions, significant illnesses, and previous surgeries
* Make sure all required immunizations have been completed with a copy of immunization records
* Go over family health history- great opportunity to discuss healthy lifestyle choices to prevent diabetes, liver, and heart disease

Hopefully you have already had multiple open & honest conversations about issues that may be encountered- Drugs, Alcohol, S*x, Peer Pressure, as well as Mental Health. Review consent, safety tips such as not walking alone, staying at a party alone, telling others of your plans, drinking and driving, and not drinking something you haven’t opened yourself. Be sure to scope out and visit the health clinic and counseling centers on campus.

It may be wise, in case of an emergency, to have a signed HIPAA authorization- this will allow healthcare providers to disclose health information to anyone specified. Be sure to fill out forms relevant to the home state and the school state to avoid any challenges.

* Send along a basic first aid kit- cold medicine, throat lozenges, cough drops, gloves, bandaids, antibiotic ointment, thermometer, OTC pain medication, TUMS, Gas X, Benadryl, nail clippers and tweezers.

For the Parent: Accept that your job as a parent has changed. Communicate with your student as a young adult. Trust them to problem solve, every “crisis” is going to sound much worse when you’re miles away, at the same time listen to your gut feelings. If homesickness persists or worsens after two weeks it is recommended to seek help. Embrace your role as a guide rather than as a decision maker. Negotiate how you will communicate and your communication expectations before drop off day. Send love from home - packages and real mail will brighten their day. Most importantly keep the conversation going and let them know they can come to you for help.

All of us at WCS wish you a year full of bright beginnings, perfect attendance, and a spectacular GPA!

*Name one thing you didn’t take with you but needed at college.
*Name something you had but was absolutely unnecessary.

Any advise you can offer our students or college parents? Something you wish you had known in advance.

“There is new information, and we are using it to give patients better answers,” ~ Dr Janet Matuszek

New guidance brings a more focused approach to Recurrent Pregnancy Loss (RPL) care. 💙

The 2026 ASRM (American Society for Reproductive Medicine) guideline update highlights an important shift: a thorough evaluation should begin sooner, focus on the most meaningful tests, and consider both partners.

Some key practice changes:
▪️Recurrent pregnancy loss can be evaluated after two or more pregnancy losses — losses do not have to happen consecutively, and this approach applies regardless of age or previous pregnancies.

▪️When possible, test the pregnancy tissue first. Chromosomal testing of miscarriage tissue can provide valuable information and help guide the next steps. Understanding the genetics of the pregnancy can prevent unnecessary testing and provide clearer answers.

▪️Both partners matter. Male factors are now more formally recognized in evaluation. In selected couples, s***m DNA fragmentation testing may be considered, along with lifestyle factors that can impact s***m health.

▪️Evaluate the uterus. All women with recurrent pregnancy loss should be offered assessment of the uterine cavity. Conditions such as uterine septum, polyps, fibroids, adhesions, or retained tissue may be treatable contributors.

▪️Focus on targeted testing. Recommended evaluation includes:
*Antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) testing
*Thyroid and diabetes screening
*Genetic evaluation when appropriate
*Assessment based on individual history and findings

The goal is not simply to order more tests — it is to order the right tests, at the right time, to provide answers and create a personalized plan.

Recurrent pregnancy loss is physically and emotionally challenging. A thoughtful, evidence-based evaluation helps couples move forward with clearer information, support, and options. 💙

Have questions about recurrent pregnancy loss or fertility evaluation? Start the conversation — understanding your options is an important first step.

“Make a habit of reaching out to people just because they crossed your mind."

International Friendship Day is celebrated on July 30, and here in the United States, we celebrate it on August 1.

But the truth is… friendship doesn’t need a date on the calendar.

Friendships are more than just fun memories and good conversations — they are good for us. Research has shown that meaningful social connections are linked to lower stress, better mental health, improved heart health, and overall well-being. The people we laugh with, lean on, and share life with truly matter.

The magic of friendship often happens in the little moments — a quick text, a phone call, or a simple “I was thinking about you” when someone crosses your mind.

Will it always be reciprocated? No… and that’s okay. Friendships have seasons, hills, and valleys. Life gets busy. People go through things we may never see. But reaching out with kindness is never wasted.

So consider this your early reminder… don’t wait for a special occasion to celebrate the people who matter.

We’re celebrating friendships … share a little love for the people who have walked alongside you through life’s hills and valleys. ❤️

We hate running behind.

Not the “I’m so sorry for the wait” that you hear because it’s the polite thing to say. We genuinely hate it.

One of the worst feelings as a physician is knowing the waiting room is filling up and realizing that people are waiting on us. We know you have taken time away from work. We know you may have arranged childcare, moved other commitments around, or have somewhere else you need to be. We know waiting is frustrating, and we never want you to feel like your time doesn’t matter.

The hard part about medicine is that every person who walks through the door is an individual—not just a name on a schedule. Medicine is one of the only jobs where every single person may suddenly need something entirely different than what the “schedule” says.

A patient may come in for a routine visit and mention a breast lump she just noticed. A patient may arrive expecting to see a heartbeat and instead receive heartbreaking news. A pathology report may come back with unexpected results that require time, explanation, and support. A simple complaint may turn out to be something much more serious than anyone expected.

And because we are an obstetric practice, sometimes a baby decides the schedule needs to change. Babies don’t always arrive when it’s convenient, but when they decide it’s time, we are honored to be there.

Those moments cannot always fit neatly into a scheduled appointment time.

We are constantly balancing two things that are both important: respecting your time and making sure every patient receives the care and attention she deserves. We never want you to feel rushed through a difficult conversation or leave with unanswered questions because the clock says it’s time to move on.

When we are running behind, we are not taking a break in the back —We are moving from room to room, reviewing results, answering messages, coordinating care, documenting visits, and trying to catch up while still giving each patient our full attention.

We also understand that your time matters. That is why we do our best to communicate when unexpected delays occur, including situations like hospital deliveries or urgent patient needs. Keeping your contact information updated helps us reach you if plans change.

So, when your doctor is running behind, please know it isn’t because we don’t value your time.

It is because someone before you needed extra time during a moment they never expected to face.

Thank you for extending grace on the days our schedule doesn’t go as planned. Your patience allows us to give every woman the time, compassion, and attention she deserves. And if the day ever comes when you need that extra time, we hope you’ll find comfort knowing we’ll be there for you, too.

Thank you for trusting us with the moments that matter most.

Happiness is carrying a whole world inside you…

Even if that world occasionally uses your ribs as a trampoline, your bladder as a punching bag, and your emotions as a roller coaster. 😂

The journey isn’t always easy, but it’s always incredible.

We are honored to walk alongside you through this incredible journey — from the first heartbeat to the moment you finally get to hold your little world in your arms. 💕

Happy Friday, mamas!
