When your mind is spiraling, insight isn’t always the first step. Presence is. 💛

Sometimes deep breathing helps. Sometimes your nervous system needs something more tangible. Grounding through movement and sensation helps reconnect you to the present by giving your brain and body something concrete to focus on.

Notice what you can see. Feel your feet pressing into the floor. Touch a nearby object. Listen for sounds around you. Move your body in a way that reminds you you’re here, right now.

Grounding isn’t about getting rid of your emotions. It’s about helping your body reconnect with the safety of the present moment.

Save this for the next time you need a gentle way back to the present 🌿

Here are some thoughts from our Therapist Nicole:

“Hey everyone! Nicole here! ✨

One of my favorite ways of viewing the human experience is best explained in this quote by yogi Sadhguru. He says “As a human, you are not a being, you are a becoming, an ongoing process. Nothing is fixed – you can be whichever way you want to be”

We are ever evolving! Your being ever changing; something I myself have experienced over the years so deeply. Reflecting upon the different chapters of my life: a little gymnast from the suburbs, student, international nomad, single independent woman, then wife. Circus artist, shape shifting into an academic and then psychotherapist. So many versions of me. Seemingly so different but all connected.

Within our personal evolution often comes periods of painful shedding and letting go of who we once were, or thought we were going to become. Often life takes us and shapes us in ways we didn’t expect or plan. But an important aspect of resilience is flowing with who you are becoming, and actively molding how and who you want to be without rigid attachment and expectations. Like the butterfly, sometimes identity transformation isn’t always pretty –  but requires that we cocoon, turning to mush within the confines of our skin, knowing we will emerge more beautiful and free than before.

Can you flow? Can you allow yourself to evolve; honoring every version of yourself and opening yourself up to your sometimes messy but expansive becoming. Can you shed aspects of who you were that maybe no longer fit in this ever changing life of yours?

This is the work of identity reflection, discovery, transformation.

May you evolve beautifully, openly and fully into who you need to be in every chapter of your life.” 🦋

The tiny wins are often the biggest wins ❤️

Let’s be real, some days are pretty tough when life has us feeling like we’re on a roller coaster. And even if we’re not in a roller coaster yet, life can be complicated.

During times like this, it can feel pretty challenging to do what feels like the bare minimum. That’s why “tiny” wins are often the biggest. They get lumped in sometimes with the “should’s” but that’s not always fair on us, and that doesn’t mean they always come easy, either.

It’s okay to put away the “should” mindset and celebrate the wins, no matter how big or small.

Comment below 👇🏽 Which wins are you celebrating today?

A body scan isn’t about doing mindfulness perfectly. It’s about noticing what your body has been trying to tell you all along. 💛

Take less than a minute to check in with your jaw, shoulders, hands, breath, stomach, and energy level. Then ask yourself, What is one small thing I can do to support my body right now?

Maybe it’s taking one slow exhale. Dropping your shoulders. Pressing your feet into the floor. Turning down the volume. Stepping outside for a moment.

Regulation starts with awareness, not perfection. The more often you notice and respond with care, the more your nervous system learns that it doesn’t have to stay in survival mode.

Save this as a reminder to pause and check in with your body today 🌿

A message from our therapist, Rochelle! 👑

“Rochelle here! & I have a serious question: When’s the last time you had genuine childlike fun?

The kind of fun where you lost track of time, laughed until your belly ached, or felt completely free. I invite you to think about that for a moment while I share my perspective on the subject:

One thing that I take very seriously is being silly. As adults, we sometimes lose touch with our childlike spirit. We might chase novelty, but not in the ways that seem to matter. Societal expectations and responsibilities can make play feel unnecessary or “cringy.” But on social media, we may compare, thinking “I want that.” Before we know it, play turns into a luxury rather than a necessity.

I’ve seen this a lot with myself and with clients. As I’ve aged, I’ve witnessed how exhausting this can be. Which brings me to another serious question: When’s the last time you doom scrolled?

That, you don’t have to answer, but I am curious if that answer felt easier or quicker to think of compared to the first question. If it was, this is exactly why play matters and why I take being silly very seriously.

Making play a priority has not only made me happier, but also more fulfilled. It’s reconnected me with that free-spiritedness I felt as a kid. Something I truly believe we all need in adulthood.

Here are some of my favorite ways I engage in play:

💃🏼Dancing in my living room
🎤Seranading my dog
🔮Storytelling in my journal
🧚🏼Cosplaying
🏚️Building a fort at home
🙋🏼‍♀️Trivia nights in my community
🧩Board games/puzzles
🎨Coloring/drawing

Yes, these ideas are silly. But that’s the point! So. When’s the last time you had genuine childlike fun? Let’s make the answer ‘today.’

Even if it’s just for 5 minutes (& even if it feels cringy) use your free will to give yourself permission to be silly today. I, very seriously, believe you deserve it.” - Rochelle

Let the summer reflections flow 🤌🏼❤️

Summer has just started, but this time of year seems to create a bit of a duality for a lot of people. One side of the coin displays a sense of freedom and wanderlust, while the other reminds us the year is half way complete and the goals we wanted to work on may be on pause. Both can exist together, and they often quietly (or loudly, let’s be real 😂) do!

However you’re feeling this summer, take a moment to reflect on where you’re at today. Are there expectations you’d like to relinquish? Or maybe some honesty you’d like to come through?

Let us know in the comments ❤️ What are you reflecting on this summer?

Your body often notices your emotions before your mind does 💛

Emotional awareness doesn’t begin by changing how you feel. It begins by noticing.

Take a few moments today to pause and ask yourself:

What am I feeling?
Where do I feel it in my body?
What sensations are present?
What might my body be needing right now?

The goal isn’t to fix or judge your emotions. It’s to reconnect with them. When we meet our internal experiences with curiosity instead of criticism, we create more emotional safety within ourselves. And over time, that awareness helps us feel more connected not only to our emotions, but to ourselves.
