Welcoming Dr. Alexander T. Sanders to Children’s Orthopaedic and Scoliosis Surgery Associates.

We are excited to announce that Alexander T. Sanders, MD, has joined Children’s Orthopaedic and Scoliosis Surgery Associates. Dr. Sanders is a fellowship-trained pediatric orthopaedic surgeon specializing in a wide range of pediatric orthopaedic conditions. His clinical expertise includes: • Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip (DDH) and Hip Preservation • Scoliosis and Kyphosis • Congenital Orthopaedic Anomalies • Fracture Care and General Pediatric Orthopaedics. Dr. Sanders completed his pediatric orthopaedic fellowship at Texas Children’s Hospital and brings a wealth of clinical, research, and leadership experience to the practice. 12-year-old Lily took a tough fall during a basketball game and ended up with an arm fracture, but she has not let that knock down her spirits. She visited us at COSSA and spent time with Jayden, one of our Cast Techs in training, who made sure her bright green cast was set to perfection. Lily is well on her way to getting back out on the court!

Meet 4-year-old Ashlyn.

Ashlyn has been a bright light in our clinic since she first started seeing Dr. Fitzgerald at just 2 months old. Diagnosed with congenital scoliosis, her journey required a specialized care plan tailored for her growing spine. In 2023, Dr. Fitzgerald started her bracing therapy and she has been taking every step in stride with that incredible smile! We are so proud of you Ashlyn and honored to be a part of your health care team.

This is Jackson, and he is helping us trial something truly special!

This past July, our St. Petersburg office began trialing the use of virtual reality (VR) as a distraction tool during casting and other procedures. Our goal is simple: to make every visit comfortable and positive for our young patients. By using VR, we are helping to reduce anxiety and create a calmer experience. We want our kids to feel supported every step of the way.
