It’s officially official! 713 kilometers walked in honor of the man, the myth, and the legend: Sir Robert Pierson Meier, aka Bobber, aka Soul Arborist, aka my father, and most formally known as Bob!

100 km till I reach Santiago!! Not sure if it’ll truly feel like the finish since I’m opting to continue another 90km to Finisterre, the “edge of the world.” The Romans once believed this coastline was the literal end of the Earth, and for centuries pilgrims have continued walking there after Santiago to perform spiritual cleansing rituals at the water, symbolizing letting go of their old life before returning home.

Something about ending the Camino journey at the ocean just feels right. Also take a look at this 800 year old tree in which an acorn now resides!

So many people along the Camino are telling me to watch the movie The Way as it’s a story of father & son in which the son passes away and the father is forced into his shoes and walks the Camino. Long story short, my dad and I loved that movie.

Called “The Mother of All Stages,” today’s stretch from Villafranca to Liñares was no joke. 1,200 meters climbed! Or over 3,900 feet for us Americans.

Wow time has been flying. Looks like I’ll be reaching Santiago on the 26th and think I’ll go even a bit further (4 days) to Finisterre to mark my true completion of the Camino. Naturally I’m starting to miss my father’s and I abode on Saint Simon’s, especially the fam. I’ve been traveling now for 40+ days and have had very little routine since Bob decided to move onto the other world. Bringing up lots of questions mainly around “what do we want life to look like once we’ve completed this thing?”

View from my room in Astorga; The Guadi Palace. They say there are three phases to the Camino. Body, mind, and soul. My body has now adapted and I’ve slowed my pace to further allow my mind to race.
