Gina Suzette King, age 61 of Salem, passed away on Monday, June 22, 2026 at her home.

Ms. King was born January 19, 1965 in Stockton, California, the daughter of Charles King and Leita Hacker King. Ms. King is survived by her daughter, Isabella Howard (Linvel) of Salem, and her sons Andrew Jamison (Lisa) of Salem and Jacob Johnson of California. She is also survived by her grandson, Cole Johnson of California, 2 brothers and 3 sisters.

Ms. King is preceded in death by her parents, and her daughter, Sarah King.

Cremation was chosen and there will be no services at this time.

Brenda Gail Collier Cole, age 77 of Salem, passed away on June 21, 2026 peacefully at home, with her family.

Ms. Cole was born September 23, 1948 in Scottsburg, Indiana the daughter of Marvin Theodore Collier and Ruth Geneva Applegate Collier. She was a member of Conway Community Church in South Boston. Ms. Cole retired from Childcraft Industries where she was a wood worker. She also volunteered at the Gift Shop at St. Vincent of Salem.

Ms. Cole is survived by her son, Travis Wilder (Hillary) of Salem, her daughters, Sabrina Wilder (Toby Russell) of Salem and Julia Madden (Randy Elam) of Austin, Indiana. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Lukas Wilder of Salem, Silas Emery of Salem, Victoria and Nicholas Fleenor of Scottsburg, Alexander Davidson of Salem, Alliana Voorhies-Spray (Bryce) of Salem and Tyler Davidson of Salem.

Ms. Cole is preceded in death by her parents, and her sister, Teddy Dawn Collier Thompson.

The family will have a private graveside service.

Shirley Tilford, age 75 of Salem, passed away on June 20, 2026 at Jewish Hospital.

Ms. Tilford was born November 24,1950 in Mozelle, Kentucky, the daughter of Rufus Brown and Alice Nantz Brown. She was a member of Northside Christian Church and also attended church at Life Tabernacle. Ms. Tilford was a retired respiratory therapist. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, going to church, spending time with friends and she loved jewelry.

Ms. Tilford is survived by her children, Jonathan Michael Tilford and Aleeshea Jackson (Tony), her grandchildren, Ava Grace Tilford and Dajon Martin, her sisters, Pauline Apple of Orleans and Teresa Mull of Candor, North Carolina, along with many nieces and nephews.

Ms. Tilford is preceded in death by her son, Matthew Gordon Tilford, her parents, her brothers, Kenneth Brown, Clyde Brown, Jacob Calvin Brown and her sisters, Kathlene Hoskins, Buelah Brown, Verlin Brown and Nola Reynolds.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 30, 2026 at 3:00P.M at Weathers Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 11:00A.M. until the time of service.

Deana Lynn Williams, age 48 of Campbellsburg, passed away Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at IU Methodist Hospital.

Mrs. Williams was born February 7, 1978, in Bedford, Indiana, the daughter of Daryl Glen Brown and Deborah Lynn Morris Brown.

Mrs. Williams is survived by her husband, Donnie Williams. She is also survived by her two daughters, Lakin Evans (Nate) of Orleans and Gracie Williams of Campbellsburg, her grandson, Beau Evans, her parents, Daryl and Deborah Brown, her brother, Derek Brown (Shannon) her niece and nephew, Delia and Daylon of Campbellsburg, and her mother and father-in-law, Gene and Suzanne Williams.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 19 at 1P.M. at Saltillo Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a college fund to be set up for Deana's world and grandson, Beau, at First Harrison Bank.

Wendi Hubbard, age 75 of Sellersburg, passed away on Tuesday, June 16, 2026.

Miss Hubbard was born November 21, 1950 in La Porte, Indiana the daughter of Henry H. and Frances Rockey Hubbard. She was a member of the 1st Christian Church. Miss Hubbard attended Franklin College.

Miss Hubbard is survived by her sisters, Henrietta Connor of New Albany, and Marietta Gruesbeck (Kirk) of Sellersburg , 3 nieces, 1 nephew and 9 great nieces and nephews.

Miss Hubbard is preceded in death by her parents.

A private service will be held and Reverend Eric James Wright will be officiating.

Robert "Red" "Sunny" Schreiber, age 88 of Salem, passed away on Sunday, June 14, 2026 at his home.

Mr. Schreiber was born October 9, 1937 in New Albany, Indiana, the son of Eugene Schreiber and Edna Tatlock. Anyone who knew him had played cards with him, he loved playing all card games and spending time at the casino. His family was the most important thing to him.

Mr. Schreiber is survived by his daughters, Deborah Schreiber, Diana Schreiber and Becky Morrison, his sons, Bill Schreiber and Robert Schreiber, his grandchildren, Christopher Mitchell, Rebecca and Amanda Schreiber, Roland Wells, Emily Daulton and Justin Morrison, 17 great grandchildren 4 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Schreiber is preceded in death his wife of 61 years, Wilma Faye Schreiber, his parents, his siblings, Roberta Shewmaker and Donnie Schreiber and his grandson, Jeremy Schreiber.

Services for Mr. Schreiber will be held on Wednesday, June 17, 2026 at 12:00P.M at Weathers Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 10:00A.M until the time of service with burial following at Crown Hill Cemetery.

Luella May Purkhiser

Mrs. Luella May Purkhiser, age 95, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2026.

She was born on February 27, 1931 to Chester Graves McKinley and Dessie Gibbons McKinley. Luella married James Willard Purkhiser on May 25, 1951. They had one son, James Eli Purkhiser. She was a member of the High Street Church of Christ, Community Club 31, The Piece Makers Quilt Guild, of which she was a Charter Member. She was a past member of The Farmer's Club and a past member of the Women's Evening Study Club. Luella worked for 10 years at Reiz Furniture Store and then worked for 29 years as an administrative assistant at the Salem Middle School before retiring in 1996. Luella had many hobbies, her favorite was being an avid quilt maker. She made many quilts over the years and was one year elected by her peers in the Piece Makers Quilt Guild to be the "Featured quilter" at the annual Quilt Show held each year in Salem. Another one of her hobbies was china painting. She loved gardening, and canning many kinds of vegetables each summer and sharing them with family and friends. Luella loved sharing her home by entertaining the Farmer's Club in her home once a year, having all of her family each year for Thanksgiving and Christmas or for any occasion that came along. Her door was always open. Overall she was a very creative and talented person and loved sharing her talents with everyone. She was always there to help a family member, neighbor or friend.

Luella is preceded in death by her husband, James Willard Purkhiser, who passed away November 26, 1993 and one son, James Eli Purkhiser, who passed away on April 12, 2016.

Luella is survived by her daughter in law, Tracy Purkhiser, 2 grandchildren, Mariah Blankenbaker (Clinton) and Nick Purkhiser (Teddi). 5 great grandchildren, Kason Blankenbaker, Keeley Blankenbaker, James Purkhiser, Sawyer Purkhiser, Lucy Purkhiser and one sister, Joan Barrett Brewer (Charles) and several nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by her church family, family, friends and neighbors.

Services for Mrs. Purkhiser will be held on Friday, June 12 at 2:00P.M at Weathers Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 10:00A.M until the time of service, at the funeral home, with burial following the service at Crown Hill Cemetery.
