You don’t realize how damaging narcissistic abuse is… until you try to explain it to someone who’s never lived it.

Most awareness around narcissistic abuse seems to come from two groups: people who openly identify as narcissists or people who have survived it themselves.

What I find interesting is that statistics show Narcissistic Personality Disorder is considered relatively “low percentage” in the population, yet so many people relate to the patterns of emotional manipulation, gaslighting, control, and psychological abuse.

It makes me wonder how much goes unrecognized, misunderstood, or never properly identified due to lack of awareness, education, and training around narcissistic abuse dynamics.

For many survivors, the hardest part is not only the abuse itself — but trying to explain an invisible form of harm that many systems still struggle to fully understand.

Awareness matters.Education matters.Proper training matters.

On Narcissistic Abuse Awareness Day, I want to bring awareness not only to the pain survivors carry, but to the systems that still fail to recognize it.

We need deeper education and changes within family law, criminal law, the medical system, and mental health training so professionals can better understand the reality and impact of narcissistic abuse.

Too many survivors are dismissed because the wounds are often psychological, emotional, relational, and invisible to the outside world.

As both a therapist and someone with lived experience, I understand this from more than theory. I understand the confusion, the self-doubt, the nervous system impact, the grief, and the long process of rebuilding yourself after chronic psychological harm.

My hope is that one day no one has to endure this kind of abuse in silence or isolation. That survivors are believed. That systems become informed and trauma-aware.That manipulation and emotional abuse are no longer minimized or tolerated. And most importantly, that people heal, reconnect to themselves, and remember their worth.

Healing is possible. Awareness matters. Change matters.

Healing is not about becoming a different person overnight.

It is about learning to understand what happens inside of you when you become activated.

So many people live stuck in survival patterns without realizing it:overthinking, shutting down, people pleasing, emotional reactivity, numbness, hyper-independence, anxiety, or feeling disconnected from themselves.

Activation → Integration work helps you slow down and begin listening to your body instead of constantly fighting it.

Through EFT, somatic work, breathwork, emotional processing, and nervous system support, people begin to recognize their triggers, understand their patterns, and create new ways of responding with more awareness and regulation.

Healing takes time. But over time, many people notice:less activation, more clarity, more groundedness, and a deeper connection to themselves.

You do not have to navigate it alone.

Many people are not “too sensitive,” “too emotional,” or “self sabotaging.”

Many have simply spent years surviving.

Over time, chronic stress, emotional suppression, people pleasing, hyper-independence, overthinking, and unresolved experiences can condition the nervous system to stay in survival mode — even when danger is no longer present.

This work is not about endlessly analyzing your life.

It is about learning how to understand what actually happens inside of you emotionally, physically, and neurologically when you become activated.

Through approaches like EFT, somatic work, breathwork, nervous system regulation, and emotional processing, people often begin to:– recognize their triggers sooner– understand their emotional patterns– feel more connected to themselves– respond instead of react– feel safer in their body– stop repeating patterns that no longer serve them

Healing is not becoming a different person.

Sometimes healing is finally realizing:you were never broken —your nervous system was trying to protect you the best way it knew how.
