Well it’s almost May so this post is a bit overdue!

I have been wanting to introduce my new student, Nicole. She joined me in January and has been attending births and appointments with me. She’s been a fast learner and has fit right in to my practice! Sadly, she’s only here through the summer as she’ll be retuning back to Sierra Leone. But I expect to have her join me again the next 1.5-2 years. I’m just sad she can’t stay longer.

Here is her introduction in her own words:

“I’m Nicole Burch! First I’m a wife and a mom to 3 girls! I grew up in the Willamette Valley but live in Sierra Leone, West Africa with my husband and kids as missionaries. After having my first baby in a birth center I fell in love with midwifery and birth, but it just wasn’t the right time to start studying until the last couple years. I’ve been studying midwifery for the last year and a half and traveled back to the states in January to apprentice for 6 or so months with Lennon. In my spare time I enjoy going on walks, hanging with my family, cooking, and playing board games.”

45 sweet babies whose pregnancies and births I’ve had the honor of being a part of in 2024. 45 amazing families that have let me be part of their journey with their new baby. I am thankful. And also wondering if I’ll add another 1-2 hearts to the wall before 2024 is over. Perhaps!
