Our partners at PacificSource are hosting a virtual three-part Lunch & Learn series focused on improving Initiation and Engagement of Substance Use Disorder Treatment (IET). The series is designed for primary care providers, behavioral health providers, and care team members working to strengthen pathways to SUD treatment.
Topics include:
-SUD screening and treatment in primary care
-Co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders
-Care coordination across treatment settings

Every child deserves the chance to play, belong, and build friendships. At Sumpter Elementary, students of all abilities learn and grow together every day. But for children with mobility challenges, the playground can still be a barrier to inclusion.

That's why families, staff, and community members are working together to build the first inclusive playground in Salem-Keizer Public Schools. For 6-year-old Juniper, who uses a wheelchair and walker, an inclusive playground would mean more than accessible equipment. It would mean being able to play alongside her friends, participate fully at recess, and experience the joy and connection every child deserves.

The Sumpter Parent Teacher Club is partnering with Unlimited Play to make this vision a reality.

🏠 Community Partner Spotlight: Habitat for Humanity of the Mid-Willamette Valley
Safe, stable housing is essential to health and well-being. Through a Willamette Health Council Community Impact Grant, Habitat for Humanity of the Mid-Willamette Valley is helping low-income homeowners in Marion and Polk counties make critical home repairs that improve safety, accessibility, and housing stability.

Since 2022, Habitat's Repair Program has been providing exterior repairs such as roof replacements and accessibility improvements that help people remain safely in their homes and communities. We're proud to support community partners working to preserve affordable housing, support aging in place, and build healthier communities for everyone.

Exciting News for Marion & Polk Counties!
The Willamette Health Council has been awarded funding through Oregon's Rural Health Transformation Program to support two significant initiatives focused on expanding healthcare access and strengthening the healthcare workforce in Marion and Polk counties. Together, these projects represent more than $6 million in investments aimed at addressing barriers to care in rural communities.

In partnership with healthcare providers, county agencies, emergency service organizations, Tribal partners, and community-based organizations, these efforts will expand Traditional Health Worker workforce development opportunities and bring integrated mobile health services directly to underserved communities.

WHC Grants & Communications Manager Melissa Lindley visited Courtney Place Veterans Housing this week to learn more about their work supporting local veterans.

Melissa met with Executive Director Andrew Holbert and Peer Support Specialist Jasmine Villaseñor, toured several apartments waiting for new residents, and had a chance to hear more about the services and support the organization provides to veterans in our community - which are not just for those those living at Courtney Place.

Visits like these give us an opportunity to see the work of our community partners firsthand and better understand the people and programs behind it. Thank you to Andrew and Jasmine for welcoming us and sharing your work!

As part of Willamette Health Council's sponsorship of this beloved community event, PacificSource Oregon Health Plan (OHP) members can receive free admission by showing their member ID card at the gate.

We're Hiring!
The Willamette Health Council (WHC) is seeking two Project Managers to help advance rural health initiatives across Marion and Polk counties:
• Mobile Health Project Manager
• Traditional Health Worker (THW) Alliance Project Manager

Both positions will provide leadership and oversight for innovative rural health initiatives, including project coordination, community outreach, grant administration, and management of subrecipient and consultant contracts. These are two-year positions funded through a Rural Health Transformation Program Catalyst Award.

This week, WHC staff toured Mano a Mano's new community hub in northeast Salem and got to hear about the future plans for the space.
We're proud that a WHC Community Impact Grant helped support the purchase of this building, which will soon become a gathering place for families, youth, and community members.
Mano a Mano plans to expand programming and services in the Lansing neighborhood, creating more opportunities for connection, learning, and support. The future hub will house youth programs, a food pantry, community events, and much more.
Thank you, Mano a Mano, for sharing your vision with us. We can't wait to see what's ahead!
