We've been hard at work here and getting this space ready to meet more sweet babies! We will have the finishing touches done on the first birth room very soon. This month coming up is inspection month to get licensed so we can have babies born here, and we are glad some of you are already dropping in with your bellies to meet us and see our progress! A 2023 meta-analysis published in theAmerican Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology (AJOG)
examined maternal and neonatal outcomes associated with planned water birth.

Key Findings

• No Increase in Serious Neonatal Complications
• Respiratory Outcomes Were Not Worse With Water Birth
• Slightly Increased Risk of Umbilical Cord Avulsion — But Still Rare
• Maternal Outcomes Were Favorable

Water birth was associated with:
• Lower rates of severe perineal trauma
• High maternal satisfaction
• Reduced need for pharmacologic pain management

Exciting news for families considering care with Birth Haven! 🤍

At Birth Haven, we believe every family deserves access to safe, high-quality midwifery care without unnecessary financial barriers. From day one, one of our priorities has been creating a process that helps families better understand and maximize their insurance benefits while keeping care as accessible as possible.

One of the first priorities we tackled was building a strong billing and reimbursement process. We’ve partnered with an experienced billing team that will work alongside us to help families maximize their insurance benefits and pursue reimbursement for eligible prenatal and home birth services whenever possible.

We also know that many families began planning their care before the previous center closed. If you previously received a financial estimate or agreement from the prior practice, we intend to honor those quoted contracts so your plans can move forward with confidence.

While we’re completing state licensing and insurance credentialing, home birth services will be offered on a temporary basis under our Certified Nurse-Midwife's license. Once Birth Haven is fully licensed and credentialed, home birth care will transition to being provided directly through the practice.

This is just one of the many steps we’re taking to build a practice that is sustainable, transparent, and centered on the needs of the families we serve.

There are moments in a journey that don't look like much from the outside...a signature on a form, a meeting at Town Hall, another piece of paperwork.

But when you've spent years dreaming about something, those moments carry a lot of weight. And today was one of those days.

Every document we complete and every approval we receive is another reminder that this isn't just a dream anymore. It's becoming real.

We've all imagined having a place where we could care for women throughout every stage of life, a place where birth, wellness, prevention, and functional medicine all exist under one roof. A place where women feel heard, supported, and cared for in the way they deserve. Seeing that vision slowly take shape has been incredibly humbling.

We are so thankful for each other, our families, and everyone who has believed in what we're building. There is still work ahead, but we're getting closer to welcoming our first patients and families, and I honestly can't wait.

This journey has been an incredible leap of faith, and the three of us will be forever grateful to have all of you following along with us. 🤍

Thinking of cloth diapering? We had a generous donation of adjustable-size cloth diapers left at our Birth Center in Salem, NH. The following prints are here and we have hundreds of them, along with some Millie Moon and Coterie diapers. If you're interested in having some, feel free to come grab as many as you think you'll use and we'll update in the comments when they are all gone. They'll be just inside the door in the plastic bins .

One more step closer!!!!

Behind every welcoming healthcare space is a lot of work that happens before the doors ever open. This week, we were excited to complete another important milestone as we continue preparing Birth Haven for our community.

A huge thank you to our local fire department and Bob Martin for helping ensure we are creating a safe environment for the families we will serve.

These behind-the-scenes moments may not be glamorous, but they're an essential part of building a birth center and wellness space that meets the highest standards of safety, quality, and care.

Hello everyone! We are proud to introduce Birth Haven, a birth center and holistic women's wellness space in Salem, NH.

Our mission is simple: to provide exceptional, relationship-centered maternity care that protects autonomy, honors the wisdom of physiological birth, expands access to out-of-hospital birth, and empowers families to make informed choices with confidence throughout pregnancy, birth and beyond.

At Birth Haven, we believe that maternity care is about more than simply delivering babies. It is about building relationships, creating a safe space where every family feels heard, respected, and supported, and providing care that honors the unique goals, values, and needs of each individual.

We are committed to offering evidence-informed, compassionate care while embracing a holistic approach to wellness. In addition to maternity services, Birth Haven will be a place where families can access prenatal education, wellness resources, community events, and classes designed to build confidence and provide support throughout every stage of the parenting journey.
