Pamela (Martin) Harney was born on August 29, 1949, in White Hall, Illinois to Rev. Paul Martin and Elizabeth “Betty” (Howard) Martin. Pam passed from this world and entered into the gates of Heaven on August 18, 2026, during a heart procedure.
Pam had quite a life. She stood next to her father at the age of four and preached on the streets of New Orleans, Louisiana. At nine, she started playing piano in every one of the churches her father preached in and ninety-five percent of the churches we later attended after his death.
In 1968, through her job at McDonnell Douglas, she helped call out the National Guard when Martin Luther King Jr. was killed. In 1969, she became a Navy wife and, later, in 1988, she became an Army wife. Once in Maryland, she aided the FBI in a sting. She had two federal security clearances and, from 1997 until 1999, worked closely with the jailor and Rolla Police Department. She also was a member of the Rebeccas and of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Pam was a crafty lady. She cross-stitched, crocheted, drew, and painted. She wrote her own music, played the piano for many churches and gospel groups, and even the Branson Brothers at Silver Dollar City. She babysat and helped to raise many children as well as some family members. Vally, Andy, and Derek were three of her favorites.
Pam loved being with her family, watching wrestling and Jeopardy, and doing crossword puzzles and crafts. She loved her animals. Pam liked going for a drive with no map, listening to great music, and enjoying a cold diet coke in her hand. Most importantly she loved God, her family, playing the piano, and singing. She wanted people to know Jesus and believe in Him just like she did.
Pam is survived by her loving daughters: Dana Gorman and Tracy and Elizabeth Brown and Charlie; grandchildren: Tyler Strain and Sarah, Victoria Wilken and Randy, Trinity Arthur and Justin, Tessa Gorman and Nathan, Tuff Gorman, Samuel Sweigard, Kathryn Brown, and Jaxson Jarvis; brothers: Jerry Martin and Lawanda and Greg Martin and Debbie; sister-in-law: Karen Martin; great-grandchildren: Kaylin, Tynleigh, Ayden, and new baby Augustus as he was born on the day she passed; as well as several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Preceding her in death were her husband: William “Bill” Harney; parents: Wesley Paul and Elizabeth (Howard) Martin; brothers: Phillip Martin and Kevin Martin; grandsons: Connor Brown and Tracy W. Gorman; and her grandparents on both sides.
Pam will be deeply missed but forever remembered by those who loved her most.
