Another Difficult Airway Course: EMS done and in the books! We had guests from across the country attending this weekend. By the end of day two you would have thought they had worked together for years. None of this could take place without our amazing instructors. Pauline and Tim, your passion and dedication to the medical field goes above and beyond I can't thank you both enough.

🌊 Why Compression-Only CPR is Not Preferred for Drowning Victims 🚫

When it comes to CPR, the approach can vary depending on the situation. While compression-only CPR is effective in many cardiac arrest scenarios, it's not the best choice for drowning victims. Here's why:

Oxygen Deprivation: Drowning primarily causes a lack of oxygen (asphyxia), rather than a cardiac issue. The lungs need to be filled with air to restore oxygen levels in the blood.

Importance of Rescue Breaths: In drowning cases, rescue breaths are crucial. They help to reintroduce oxygen into the victim's system, which is vital for reviving them.

Comprehensive Approach: Combining chest compressions with rescue breaths ensures that both the heart and lungs are supported, increasing the chances of survival.
