Recovery housing is more than a roof overhead. It can be a place to build stability, find support and take the next steps in recovery.

MCHHS offers substance use disorder treatment and transitional housing designed to support parents and families. Onsite childcare helps parents participate in treatment while staying connected to their children.

Her Place supports pregnant and parenting women, His Place supports parenting fathers, and Our Place supports families.

Together, these programs provide a supportive environment where parents can focus on recovery, connect with others and build skills for greater stability.

You don’t need to have the perfect words to check in with someone.

If you’re worried about a friend, family member or coworker, starting a conversation can make a difference. Ask how they’re doing. Listen without judgment. Let them know you care.

Not sure what to say? SAMHSA has tips to help you start the conversation:

If you or someone you know needs immediate emotional support, call or text 988.

September is Su***de Prevention Awareness Month in Marion County. 💜

Today, the Marion County Board of Commissioners joined communities across the country in recognizing the importance of su***de prevention—and reminding people that help and hope are available.

Su***de prevention is something all of us can be part of. Check in on the people in your life. Listen without judgment. Learn the warning signs. And if you or someone you know is struggling, reach out for help.

Call or text 988 to connect with the 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline. Support is available 24/7.

Throughout September, we'll be sharing information and resources to help our community learn more about su***de prevention and how we can support one another.

⚠️ Unhealthy Air Quality Advisory for Eastern Marion County 💨

The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality has issued an air quality advisory for Eastern Marion County through Wednesday 9/2/26. Unhealthy air quality is occurring in the Santiam Canyon from east of Mehama due to smoke from nearby wildfires.

Go indoors if you do not feel well. This can include chest pain, aggravated cough, or difficulty breathing. Anyone active outdoors may feel these symptoms, especially sensitive groups like children, older adults, outdoor workers, and people with chronic conditions. Keep activities light and short outdoors. Consider moving all activities indoors where air is filtered.

For outdoor activities for youth, consider the following:
• Cancel the event.
• Move the event indoors.
• Postpone the event.
• Move the event to an area with “good” air quality.

This summer – Breathe clean air. Be prepared. Stay informed. Visit Prepare.MCHealthy.Net or call 2-1-1 for information and resources.

Recovery can be hard. Having a safe place to live, support from other moms, and the ability to stay connected with your children can make a meaningful difference.

Commissioner Danielle Bethell and Congresswoman Andrea Salinas recently stopped by Her Place to visit with our residents and staff. Thank you for taking the time to connect with the people who make this community special.

Her Place is a safe and supportive home for pregnant and parenting women with substance use disorders. Women can live with their young children (up to age 5) while working on recovery, building daily living skills, receiving treatment, and working toward a more stable future for their families. Her Place also provides onsite childcare during treatment groups and support for moms working toward reunification with their children.

Questions about Her Place? Call 503-576-4660.

For some people, drinking can be followed by feelings of anxiety, worry or stress the next day, even after the effects of alcohol wear off. This is sometimes called "hangxiety."

Paying attention to how alcohol affects you can help you make choices that support your well-being. You can reduce the likelihood of post-drinking anxiety by drinking less or avoiding alcohol altogether. And if you need someone to talk to, call or text 988.
