Acquired another client yesterday. Will be pursuing memberships for client in 4 organizations: Mayflower Society, DAR, SAR and Sons and Daughters of Oregon Pioneers. Thankfully I have already subbessfully earned memberships with Daughters of the American and Oregon Pioneers so those applications should go smoothly although I will admit they require extensive documentation. SAR is the "Son" version of DAR, so that should be a repeat of the same information. My new challenge will be the Mayflower Society but I look forward to pulling together the information needed to claim the connection for this family. Love the pursuit!

I have been doing some genealogical research for someone I met through the Salem History Matters radio show. As I followed this person's line back in time, I started having a premonition that this was heading somewhere specific. Sure enough .... I just documented that my client is a Mayflower descendant! Unbeknownst to him, he is a descendant of William Bradford, yes, THAT William Bradford!!! I can't wait to share the news!!

William Bradford (c. 19 March 1590 – May 9, 1657) was an English Puritan, originally from the West Riding of Yorkshire, who later moved to Leiden in Holland, and then in 1620 migrated to the Plymouth Colony on the Mayflower. William Bradford (Plymouth Colony governor)

After months of preoccupation with my parents needs, I have accepted a new research project. I have been asked to do some research on the Chinese who lived in Salem in the mid-1800's. Some of you might have seen the write-up in the Statesman Journal regarding the unearthing of a Chinese shrine in the Pioneer Cemetery. This discovery has prompted interest in this ethnic group and the role they played in Salem history. So far I have genealogically tracked 3 Chinese families through their lives in Salem and am working on connections in China. (the language is a little challenging though... HA!)
