Where is your tongue in your mouth?

Your tongue should live on the roof of your mouth, not the floor.

Tongue position influences so much more than speech. It can affect your airway, neck tension, headaches, jaw function, pelvic floor coordination, and even your foot.

One simple way to build tongue strength? Smash berries against the roof of your mouth with your tongue before swallowing.

If you want weird simple big impact activities like this give me a follow!

Two things I told a patient with SI joint pain today that might sound backwards:

Stop stretching it.

Strengthen the other side.

Sometimes "tight" muscles aren't short. They're working overtime to protect an area that doesn't feel stable.

And sometimes the fastest way to calm down a painful side is to improve the support system around it.

The body is rarely as simple as "stretch what hurts."

Save this for the next time your SI joint starts talking back.

Physical Therapy this easy SHOULD be illegal.

I do ask strangers about their bowel habits. Usually (respectfully) ignore the body part that hurts. Make them smell things. Move their eyeballs. Stick out their tongue.

But...Then they feel better!!!

It's weird. I know, but it works.

Definitely Follow me, if you are interested in questionably normal physical therapy.

Eyeball pushups for Neck pain...EVERY TIME

The eyes and the neck are bffs. There's actually something called the cervical ocular reflex. When you move your eyeball muscles the tiny little stabilizing muscles especially the ones that attach your skull to your neck move to. That's why working on your eyeball mobility and strength can be super important.

Give it a try. Let me know what you think.

Save this one for the next time you get a headache.

If this one gives you a headache, we should talk.

The I love you massage to help you go 💩 was a popular request! Here are the basics.

This colon massage can be as effective as a daily fiber supplement in helping with constipation.

Definitely save this one!

Send this to your best friend because you know she probably needs it.

Send it to your husband because he probably needs it too even though he won't do it.

As always, if you have questions ask them below

If you have back pain and you're constantly stretching your hamstrings, there's a chance you're making the problem worse.

Many tight hamstrings are acting as bodyguards for the pelvis and low back. Your nervous system is using them as a stability strategy.

So what happens when you aggressively stretch them?

You temporarily take away a support system that your brain thinks it needs.

That's why so many people feel relief for an hour, a day, or maybe a few days... and then the tightness comes right back.

Healthy hamstrings should be able to lengthen, shorten, and coordinate with the pelvis. They shouldn't have to grip all day long just to help you feel stable.

Sometimes the hamstring isn't the problem. It's the solution your body came up with.

If you enjoy looking beyond muscles and joints and exploring the nervous system, breathing, lymphatics, and movement, give me a follow.

Clinicians, leave a ❤️ if you've seen this in your patients.

Welp, that was unexpected. My first viral carousel.

I didn't even think carousels could go viral because they couldn't be shared other people 🤷‍♀️.

Of course it has to be on tips and tricks to help people 💩.

Even though it sounds like kind of a silly topic, a lot of my patients who have pain are also constipated. So taking care of gut health is super important for overall pain control.

If you're new here welcome! If you've been following me for a long time thank you.
