I had a great morning today on The Heart of the Rockies Radio with Dan R. We talked about the NAMI Chaffee event this Saturday called In Our Own Voice. February 28th at 4:00pm, at the Salida United Methodist Church, 228 W. 4th Street, Salida. The interview will air around 9:30am Thursday the 26th.
There was a fain rainbow in the distance as I left the radio station.

Hi Chaffee County Friends, I wanted to invite you to an event NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) is hosting in Salida. It's called In Our Own Voice, where local people come and talk about how they have learned to live successful and happy lives while also experiencing mental illness. This will be an inspiring and uplifting presentation for anyone who has mental health challenges in their family or friend group.
Saturday, February 28th, 4:00pm at Salida United Methodist Church, 228 E. 4th Street.
This event is free, first come, best seats. Light refreshments provided by Robin's restaurant in Salida.

NAMI Chaffee County had a booth at the Salida Rotary Ducky Race this past Sunday, August 24th. It was so much fun! The people were having so much fun and there were kids and families everywhere. Our community members made wonderful ducks! NAMI Chaffee County is seeking new volunteers and board members, so let us know if you would like to get involved with the great work we do for Chaffee County.

We had another amazing talk about health on Sunday, May 4th. Alicia McLeod is the health coach at Natural Grocers in Salida, and she offered her time to talk to NAMI folks and guests about how to create healthy meals. It was so interesting! And so much fun! What do you think, should we host more talks?

We hosted another amazing talk with Alicia McLeod at Natural Grocers on April 24th. She talked a lot about mood and sleep and how we can take care of ourselves to assist in both. Alicia is very knowledgeable about food and nutrition. We learned about how unhealthy food can cause mood swings and sleep issues. Plus, she gave us great healthy food ideas!
The next talk is May 4th at 2:00pm: Building Healthy Meals

Yesterday was so much fun! We had our talk "The Good4U Lifestyle" at Natural Grocers. The people who showed up were engaging and very interested in learning about how to reduce stress in our lives. There was so much information that I, personally, never knew about how stress effects our body functions, brain and nervous system. Speaker Alicia McLeod taught us about good foods, vitamins and lifestyle changes we can make in order to keep ourselves calm, relaxed, healthy and thinking clearly.
The next talk is April 24th at 4:30pm at Natural Grocers in Salida. It will be "Natural Hacks for Mood & Sleep".
These talks are free and healthy snacks are provided. First come, first chair!
