Last pool day for us this summer. 🥺
I don’t know why this one makes me so sad.
Maybe it’s because I know one day they won’t want to go to the pool with Mom anymore. Maybe it’s knowing we’re about to go back to the hustle and bustle of school, sports, practices, homework, early mornings and packed schedules.
I only have 8 more summers until Renley is out of school. My youngest is starting SECOND GRADE. 😭 And somehow another summer has already come and gone.
And of course, here comes the mom guilt.
I wish I would’ve done more with them.
Taken them more places.
Planned more things.
Been more present.
Worked less.
Put my phone down more.
Made the summer feel a little more… special.
All the things we moms tell ourselves.
But the truth is… they had a good summer.
We made memories.
We didn’t take any big fancy vacations. We didn’t have some perfectly planned summer bucket list that we checked off.
But we went to see our families.
We spent days at the pool.
We had movie nights with popcorn.
We had breakfast for dinner.
We stayed up too late.
We laughed.
We were together.
And it was good.
Maybe someday when they look back on their childhood summers, they won’t remember where we went or how much money we spent. Maybe they’ll just remember that home felt good. That summer felt fun. That Mom was there.
So I’m trying really hard not to be sad that another summer is ending and instead just be really, really grateful that we got to have it. ❤️
Another summer with all four of my babies under my roof.
And that will always be enough. 🥹
