Last week we let the creativity take over, painting and decorating jars and glasses into spring and summer vases. Our lovely Lifestyle Director, with the help of our resident Mary and her husband Douglas, picked flowers from our garden outside to fill our new vases. We’re ready for summer now! 🌸🌼🌷💐

Last week we had the great pleasure of having VNA and The Key come to play summer bingo with our residents. Unlike our regular bingo — that we play with numbers — this bingo was played with items all about summer to get us into the summer spirit! ☀️🕶️⛱️ They made root beer floats for us and brought special prizes. It was highly engaging with so much resident involvement. We are so grateful to our wonderful friends at VNA and The Key 👏💛🥰

For a joyful Wednesday, here are some of our memory care residents painting spring canvases.

There is so much value in creative expression — increased dexterity, strengthened focus, social bonding. Plus making art floods our systems with all those “feel-good” neurochemicals like dopamine, serotonin, and endorphins ☺️

What an amazing Memorial Day lunch we had. Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate. We can’t imagine a better way of honoring those who have served than gathering together friends and family around tables of delicious food. A big thanks to our veterans and active duty service members ❤️💙❤️💙

You know what we call dancing in a senior living community? A “triple-threat” activity! Dancing is physical, mental, and social. It combines exercise, engagement, interaction — and self-expression to boot!

You know what else, it’s just plain fun to do and watch. Go get em, Patty!

Sometimes we like to spend a Saturday relaxing with a glass of wine and painting — a classic Senior Sip & Paint!

Our Lifestyle Director printed a few summer demos for artistic inspiration, and our residents spent the afternoon immersed in their art. Not just that, but it ended up being so social. The residents asked each other questions, talked abut how or what they would paint, and encouraged each other in the process.

There is so much value in creative expression: increased dexterity, strengthening focus, and social connection. Making art and having positive interactions, both flood our systems with all those “feel-good” neurochemicals like dopamine, serotonin, and endorphins — even better when they can happen together ☺️
