I am literally going crazy right now because so many people think the shape of your body equals how fit you are.
What about range of motion? Flexibility? Balance? Strength? Endurance? Mobility?
It frustrates me to no end that people look at larger people and automatically assume they aren’t fit. Equally, it frustrates me when people look at thin people and automatically assume they are.
Fitness is not a clothing size.
Fitness is what your body can do.
Can you move well? Are you strong? Can you balance? Can you get up off the floor with ease? Can you carry your groceries? Can you hike a mountain, play with your kids, or make it through a yoga class?
Those things tell me far more about someone’s fitness than the number on a scale ever could.
Body size and fitness are not the same thing. Stop judging people’s health and abilities by their appearance. You simply cannot know what someone’s body is capable of by looking at them.
Let’s start celebrating what our bodies can do instead of obsessing over what they look like.
