Protect all the skin you’re in. Use a layered approach for sun protection.

Sunscreen works best when used with shade or clothes, and it must be reapplied every 2 hours and after swimming, sweating, or towelling off. Use broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 15 to protect exposed skin.

Wear a hat, sunglasses, and protective clothing to shield skin. Seek shade, especially during midday hours.

Your child is being introduced to so many new concepts in the outside world. Try this listening activity with your child next time you are spending time together on the go.

Activity: Name the Vehicle (15 months - 2 ½ years)

Use: On the Go

Description: Is your child trying to speak and imitate what you say? Try to build on this when you're out by pointing to vehicles that pass by and naming them. If you see a car, bus, truck or taxi, call it out. Involve them by having them point and name with you.

Brainy Background: Not only is your child learning new words, they're learning to pay careful attention to the differences between cars and taxis, trucks and buses. This involves understanding categories and matching things that are the same and different—all important learning skills.

Thawing food on the counter or in hot water? That’s a fast track to the Danger Zone (40°F–140°F), where bacteria thrive. Use these safe methods instead:
- Fridge: Slow but safe—add 24 hrs per 5 lbs
- Cold Water: Bag it, change water every 30 min, cook right away
- Microwave: Cook immediately after thawing
- From Frozen: Safe to cook—just add ~50% more time

Has your child experienced rejection yet? 💔

😢 Heartbreak and rejection are an uncomfortable, but inevitable, part of life. Teaching kids how to handle rejection will help them be more emotionally resilient and empathetic when the time comes.

🗣️ Here are 3 things to teach your kids about how to handle rejection…
1️⃣ Respecting others’ consent and boundaries is non-negotiable—AND it’s a super important skill for kids to learn as they become more socially independent. You can say, “If someone tells you ‘no,’ respect their decision and move on.”

2️⃣ It takes a lot of bravery to put yourself out there. Remind them that everyone gets rejected sometimes, and it never feels good. Lead with empathy and let them know you’re here to help them process any difficult feelings.

3️⃣ It also takes courage to say “no.” Remind them it’s not personal when others set a boundary. They should not let any difficult feelings about the rejection turn into anger or bitterness toward the person who rejected them.

🙌🏾 Teaching these important lessons to your kids early and often can help set them up to handle rejection with grace and respect as they get older!

It's important to make sure that when a child begins school, they are developmentally ready to learn and participate in classroom activities. Here are 9 ways you can help your child be ready for Kindergarten:

1️⃣ Sing nursery rhymes with your child

2️⃣ Read aloud and ask about the pictures in the book

3️⃣ See if you child can “read” a book to you by telling the story from the pictures

4️⃣ Practice having your child ask adult relatives for help and communicate their needs and feelings

5️⃣ Play games together to help your child win and lose kindly and take turns

6️⃣ Play listening games together where you give your child multi-step directions to follow (e.g., jump up and down, pat your stomach, and sit down)

7️⃣ Help your child recognize letters, numbers, colors, and shapes

8️⃣ Develop routines, especially around meals and bedtime

9️⃣ Encourage your child to share
