Yesterday we celebrated the ribbon-cutting and open house for our Milestone home remodel in Sandy.

We are so grateful for HomeAid and all the community support that made this remodel possible. This beautiful Milestone home supports young adults experiencing homelessness between the ages of 18 and 21, offering stability as they work toward independence. Since 2012, Milestone has served more than 350 young adults, with 97% housed and employed or in school upon exit in 2025.

Thank you to Utah Office of Homeless Services Coordinator Tyler Clancy, HomeAid Utah Executive Director Lisa Wright, Salt Lake County Deputy Mayor Erin Litvack, Sandy City Councilmember Alison Stroud, and countless other community partners for celebrating with us. Thank you also to our Youth Action Board, and to Youth Action Board President Cameron Thompson, who held the scissors and led the ribbon-cutting.

The home is featured in the 2026 Salt Lake Parade of Homes, running through August 15. To learn more about Milestone, visit slco.to/milestone.

A good reminder for parents, caregivers, and anyone who works with young people. Teens are building the skills to manage emotions and make decisions, and that process is rarely smooth.

During the middle and high school years, teens are learning how to make decisions, manage emotions, and think through consequences. That doesn’t mean we lower expectations or excuse poor choices. It means we lead with understanding, connection, and guidance. The next time you hear, “I don’t know why I did that,” remember there may be more happening beneath the surface. Keep the conversations going, set healthy boundaries, and remind them they’re not navigating this stage alone.

Since launching in 2024, prevention coalition Health in the Heights has hit the ground running! In just two years, the coalition has earned the Healthy Utah Community designation, hosted su***de prevention trainings, connected with community members at events across the area, and helped collect an impressive 165 pounds of unneeded or expired medications during the 2025 and 2026 National Drug Take-Back Days.

Health in the Heights is excited to continue building a healthier, safer community, and SLCo Youth Services Prevention staff are grateful to be part of these efforts!


Desde su lanzamiento en 2024, la coalición de “Health in the Heights” ha trabajado con fuerza. En solo dos años, la coalición ha ganado la designación de Healthy Utah Community , ha alojado entrenamientos de prevención del suicidio, se ha conectado con miembros de la comunidad en eventos del área y ha ayudado a juntar 165 libras de medicamentos innecesarios o con fechas vencidas durante las fechas del “Día Nacional de Toma de Medicamento” en el año 2025 y 2026.

“Health in the Heights” está muy animado de continuar trabajando para construir una comunidad más saludable y segura, y el personal de prevención de Servicios Juveniles (Youth Services Prevention ) esta agradecido de formar parte de estos esfuerzos!
