Want to know other ways to build intimacy in your relationship that don't involve s*x? Don't get me wrong, s*x is one good way but there's many other forms of intimacy you should be working on to have healthier relationships (with others AND yourself).

Different types of intimacy:
〰️emotional
〰️mental
〰️physical
〰️spiritual
〰️experiential

Do you have a favorite way you share intimacy in your relationship?

CHALLENGE:
Pick one way in at least one type of intimacy to do this week with your partner or for yourself!

You need to be talking about s*x! If you want healthy relationships with your partner(s) and healthy relationships with s*x, it needs to be talked about. I come across many that never discuss it because of shame or embarrassment, or not wanting to create issues with their partner(s) and my mind is 🤯. These conversations should be a normal part of every relationship with yourself and others!

TIPS
1️⃣ Start these conversations with yourself. Write it down to discover more about yourself and your attitudes around s*x. Get comfortable with these thoughts.
2️⃣ Have these conversations from the start in your intimate relationship(s). Don't make it a sensitive topic, make it a normal topic! Talk openly. Express yourself and listen to your partner(s) when they express themselves. If you haven't before & don't talk about it currently, sit down with your partner & bring up the idea of having these conversations. Start with a lighter topic, set a timer & take turns sharing.
3️⃣ Not sure what to talk about? Use this post for some starters for your conversations. You'd be surprised how one of these topics can turn into a long conversation.

Let's talk about s*x! Let's not be scared to talk about it. Let's not be embarrassed or ashamed to talk about it.

It's so hard (even for me) to not get caught up with the number on the scale, or thinking what your body is "supposed" to look like.

My body has changed a lot over the last 2 years (I believe due to my age & my habits changing due to the pandemic & working full time) and I have had to be very aware of my thoughts about my body & not letting myself get stuck on things like the number on the scale. Every time I catch my thoughts about what my body "should" be, I try to reword them into positive thoughts about my body such as "my body is beautiful as it is" or "there are no rules where I'm supposed to be" or "I love all that my body makes it possible for me to do".

➡️➡️ I challenge you to work on being more aware of the thoughts you have about your body and where it "should" be and try to replace those thoughts with words of self-love and self-compassion. TIP: It can help to write a list of positive things you could say about your body & keep it on hand for when these thoughts pop up (a screenshot or in the notes on your phone)

Shame around s*x is something I work with frequently with clients. This shame is usually developed by your environment growing up. Many factors can play a role in developing this shame such as the way parents talked about or reacted to s*x, the body, and s*xual things. Did you learn nicknames for s*xual parts? Were you made to feel bad or wrong if you were interested in these parts & wanted to touch them? (Which is completely normal & healthy... it's a part of your body!).

This is just one way shame can come into your life. There really is a lot more & often times it isn't just one thing. It can include things like religion, shows your watched, your s*x education, your friends, schooling, siblings, cognitive functioning, & more.

But what does this shame do you to?
➡️ it makes you feel like you're a bad person, in the wrong, or like you shouldn't enjoy s*x or your body.

You can heal from shame to have a healthy relationship with s*x & a healthy relationship with your body when it comes to s*x! You can heal shame to have a healthy, enjoyable, & fun s*x life!

Read through this post^^^ to see how you can start working through your shame around s*x and feeling s*xy.
