BSTR Heart Health Hike to Pipeline Overlook!

Join us on August 29th for a heart health hike to the Pipeline Overlook. Water and snacks will be provided.

Please meet Dr. Ferguson and other BSTR hikers at the parking area of Rattlesnake Gulch. This will be the first parking to your left 1.5 miles after entering the canyon. Please dress accordingly, as it will be in the high 70s at the start of the hike. Water and snacks will be provided. All levels welcome!!
Dogs are allowed, 675 feet of elevation gain. All ages welcome!!

Utah has a health equity problem that many people don't often talk about!

Dr. Ferguson, President of Black Physicians of Utah, has watched the gap grow for years. A gap in who has access to care, who trusts the healthcare system, and who's even in the room when decisions get made about that care.

That's the reason Black Physicians of Utah exists, to bring about health equity in our state. And it's the reason the Mental Wellness Alliance exists, to bring about mental health equity, access, and an end to the stigma around mental health care.

This September, for the first time, we're bringing everything we've built, mentorship, scholarships, and community work, into one day. One Summit for professionals. One Expo for the community.

This is what all our work is about. This is why we do what we do!

Meet Stormy Nielson, co-lead of the Black Physicians of Utah Mental Wellness Alliance, personally inviting you to the inaugural Health & Wellness Summit and Expo.

The Summit runs 9AMโ€“2PM, with continuing education credits available for our medical and mental health providers. Then from 2โ€“5PM, the doors open wider for our community Expo, resources, connection, and everyone who wants to be in the room.

This day is built around the five determinants of health, because gaps in even one area of our lives can affect our overall mental wellness. And healing doesn't happen in isolation. Being in community is part of what gets us to joy, and to excellence.
