We are open limited hours today for the holiday.
As someone who grew up in the heart of New England, our colonial heritage surrounded us everyday. From 17th century homes to the yearly re-enactment of the burning of the Gaspee British boat for freedom and independence.
Today, America has a birthday. But, the American foundations set forth by our founding fathers for equality, independence, freedom is frail.
America was never a “white”, one race world. Our defining embrace of all people from all walks of life, countries cultures is what set us apart…as a place of refuge, a place to start new, a place to be welcomed.
Today, we celebrate those ideals of what America stands for.
“Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”
Our light is always on for you.
You are welcome here.
That is the America we celebrate today.
