Teen mental health can feel complicated, especially when anxiety, depression, trauma, isolation, identity-related stress, or intense emotions begin affecting everyday life.
Sometimes weekly therapy is enough. Sometimes a teen needs more structure, support, and connection.
Red Willow’s Adolescent Mental Health Intensive Outpatient Program provides compassionate, clinically supported care for teens ages 14–17 who need more than traditional weekly therapy but do not require inpatient care. Teens can continue living at home, attending school, and staying connected to their regular routines while building coping skills, emotional resilience, and healthier ways to communicate and navigate challenges.
The program intentionally provides LGBTQIA+-affirming, trauma-informed care and welcomes adolescents of all identities.
Contact Red Willow today to learn more about our Adolescent IOP and find out whether the program may be the right fit for your teen.

Sometimes the biggest emotions come out after school.
A teen may spend the entire day trying to keep up, follow expectations, manage stress, and hold everything together. By the time they get home, they may feel completely drained.
What looks like attitude, shutting down, or irritability may actually be emotional overload. Home is often where they finally feel safe enough to let it out.

Your mental health checklist does not have to be complicated.
Name the feeling. Protect your energy. Take one small step. Pause without guilt.
Some days, taking care of your mental health looks less like doing more and more like giving yourself permission to slow down. You do not have to fix everything today. Start with what feels manageable.
Save this mental health reminder for the days you need a gentle reset.

Sometimes the hardest thing to put down is something you got used to carrying.
Other people’s expectations, their emotions, the pressure to keep everyone happy, and old roles you’ve outgrown can all start to feel normal after a while.
But normal doesn’t always mean healthy.
Learning what’s actually yours to carry can take time, and therapy can be a place to start sorting through it.

Feeling emotionally exhausted doesn’t always look like falling apart. Sometimes it looks like pushing through the day while feeling completely drained.
If these signs feel familiar, it may be time to slow down, set boundaries, or reach out for support. You don’t have to carry everything on your own.

Sometimes it’s not laziness.
Burnout, anxiety, depression, or just feeling overwhelmed can make even simple things feel harder than they normally would. We don’t always know what someone is dealing with behind the scenes, so a little patience can mean more than we realize.

We often think anger is the problem, but sometimes it’s a sign that something deeper is going on. Anxiety, depression, trauma, or substance use can all show up as irritability instead of sadness. Taking time to understand what’s underneath the anger can be the first step toward healing.
If anger is affecting your relationships, work, or daily life, therapy can help. Learn more or schedule a consultation at redwillowcounseling.com.
