The VA Salt Lake City Health Care System (VASLCHCS) consists of the George E. Wahlen Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center and Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) in Utah, Idaho, and Nevada. Wahlen Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center is a mid-sized affiliated tertiary care facility with 121 authorized active beds. It is a teaching facility, providing a full range of patien

t care services, with state-of-the-art technology as well as education and research. Comprehensive health care is provided through primary care, tertiary care, and long-term care in areas of medicine, surgery, psychiatry, physical medicine and rehabilitation, neurology, oncology, dentistry, and geriatrics. The VASLCHCS is part of the VA Network 19, which includes facilities in Utah, Wyoming, Montana, Colorado, Idaho, and Nevada.

Can’t make your appointment? Let another Veteran take it.
When you miss an appointment without canceling (a “no-show”), it delays care for your fellow Vets.
Ways to cancel:
1. Text: Reply to your VEText appointment reminder. (Text START to 53079 to opt in).
2. Online: Use MyHealth.va.gov or the VA Health & Benefits App.
3. Call: Dial 801-582-1565 and press 2 for scheduling.
By canceling early, you help a fellow Vet get the care they need sooner.

Last month, we had the honor of breaking ground on our new primary care clinic in South Salt Lake. In addition to being in a more central location that will be easier for Veterans to get to than our main campus, this clinic will give us space to further expand our capabilities! We look forward to opening these doors to Veterans in late 2028!

Our Volunteer of the month for this month is Kyu Lee! Kyu was born and raised on Guam and joined the Navy after turning 18. As a Neuroscience major at the University of Utah, he keeps. busy schedule, but still finds time to volunteer! He loves volunteering here and he enjoys connecting with other volunteers and veterans.

VA Salt Lake City staff stepping up to help as the American Red Cross declares its second-ever national blood crisis. We shattered our goal, donating 55 units of blood! The American Red Cross of Utah tells us that will help 165 people. After a donation is received, it is processed within 4 days and can be sent to any one of 54 hospitals in Utah, including George E. Wahlen VA Medical Center.
