For decades, women with MS were told pregnancy was too risky — and many were told to choose between having a family and staying on treatment. That guidance hasn't aged well as new treatments and consensus guidelines from 2018 onward have reshaped what's possible, but the research hasn't reached every exam room yet.

Katrina Bawden, FNP and MS-Certified Nurse Practitioner at Rocky Mountain MS Clinic, recently joined Podnosis to discuss where those gaps still exist and the pregnancy outcomes data she's tracking to help close them.

Special thanks to Anastassia Gliadkovskaya and Fierce Healthcare for the opportunity to share this important conversation!

Could MS become partially preventable? New research suggests it’s possible.

A global team of MS experts has proposed a first-of-its-kind framework aimed at reducing the risk of multiple sclerosis from childhood through adulthood. By addressing risk factors like obesity, Epstein-Barr virus, smoking, and low vitamin D—and combining public health measures with earlier detection—this initiative represents an exciting step toward preventing MS.

At Rocky Mountain MS Clinic, we’re inspired by these findings and remain committed to advancing care, research, and support for the MS community. While prevention is complex, awareness and early action can make a difference.

Today is World Brain Day! 🧠

This year's theme, Brain Health: Access for All, is a reminder that everyone deserves timely access to quality neurological care, regardless of where they live or the challenges they face.

More than 3.4 billion people worldwide are living with neurological conditions, making them the leading cause of disability globally. Yet many people continue to face barriers to care, including long wait times, limited access to specialists, and delayed diagnosis.

At our practice, we're committed to helping improve access to specialized neurological care through early diagnosis, evidence-based treatment, clinical research, and patient education. Because when it comes to brain health, timely care can make a meaningful difference.

Together, we can continue building a future where more people have access to the care they need to live healthier lives.

One year in Lehi! 🎉🧡

This month marks one year since we opened our doors in Lehi — and what a year it's been.

As the second Rocky Mountain MS Clinic location and Utah County's dedicated MS specialty clinic, this milestone means the world to us. Our fully integrated MS center brings together neurology care, on-site infusions, and clinical research — all under one roof.

In just 12 months, we've had the privilege of caring for nearly 550 patients — a number that reflects real trust from this community, and one we don't take lightly. Every appointment, every diagnosis, every treatment plan is a reminder of why we're here: to bring compassionate, research-driven MS care closer to home for patients across Utah County.

To our patients, our team, and everyone who has welcomed us over this past year — thank you. Your support has made this location feel like a second home, and we're just getting started. 🙌🏽

Here's to year two — and to continuing to grow alongside the community we're so proud to serve!

Newly diagnosed, seeking a second opinion, or looking for a specialist close to home? We'd love to meet you.
