Napoleon Hill described the brain as a broadcasting and receiving station for thought β€” capable of picking up impressions and ideas from beyond its own conscious experience. And most people have never learned to tune the receiver. 🧠

Proverbs 3:5-6 β€” trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths.

That is not a prayer of passivity. That is a mental discipline of active surrender β€” training your mind to receive direction rather than always generating it on its own.

Your mental practice this week: before you engage your phone in the morning β€” sit for five minutes in complete stillness. No input. No output. Just receive. Write down whatever surfaces. That is sixth sense training.

Share this with someone whose mind needs to learn how to receive β€” not just produce. πŸ™

Have you ever watched someone do something so obviously wrong β€” so clearly avoidable β€” and thought to yourself: how does that person function in daily life? πŸ˜…

I'm Ed Bailey β€” and today on The Art of Living Young we are talking about common sense. Basic, practical, everyday judgment. The ability to look at a situation and make a reasonable decision without needing someone to hold your hand through it.

People with no common sense do these10 things without even realizing:

1️⃣ Ask questions before trying to find the answer themselves
2️⃣ Make the same mistakes over and over without reflection
3️⃣ Overshare in every situation without reading the room
4️⃣ Show up late consistently and expect it to be fine
5️⃣ Overspend without awareness of the consequences
6️⃣ Spend too much time online and call it relaxation
7️⃣ Ignore advice they personally asked for
8️⃣ Be obnoxious in public without noticing
9️⃣ Expect special treatment and constant attention
πŸ”Ÿ Ignore social norms that everyone else respects
1️⃣1️⃣ Blame other people for every problem they face

And here is the truth β€” common sense is not inherited. It is a skill. And like any skill it can be developed through experience, self-reflection, empathy, and faith.

Proverbs 3:21 β€” preserve sound judgment and discernment. Do not let them out of your sight.

Before this week ends β€” one honest question. What have you been planting? πŸ™

Your dominant thoughts are not just passing through. They are planting. Right now. In the soil of your subconscious mind.

Philippians 4:8 β€” think on whatever is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, and admirable. Proverbs 23:7 β€” as a man thinks in his heart, so is he.

Complete the Thought Mastery Audit this weekend. Observe your dominant thoughts for 24 hours. Identify your three most recurring patterns. Write one replacement thought for each that is true, faith-filled, and in the present tense. Then speak them every morning for seven days before the world gets access to your mind.

Every physical habit you have β€” good or bad β€” began as a thought. Your body is not leading your life. It is following the program running in your subconscious mind. πŸ’ͺ

Here is the living young truth that changes everything about physical health after 40, 50, 60, and beyond.

The habits that sustain your vitality β€” consistent movement, intentional nourishment, restorative sleep, physical renewal β€” are not sustained by willpower. Willpower depletes. They are sustained by subconscious programming. When the subconscious accepts a belief about who you are as truth β€” the corresponding behavior becomes automatic. You stop fighting for it. You simply live it.

Your physical practice this week: identify one youth-sustaining habit you want to establish. Write this statement β€” "I am someone who _____________ every day." Speak it aloud with conviction every morning until your subconscious stops questioning it and starts acting on it.

There are people who come into this world and leave it better than they found it. Dolly Parton was one of those people. πŸ™

Dolly Parton β€” who rose from humble beginnings to the greatest heights of American music and became one of the country's most philanthropic, unifying and beloved stars β€” has died in Nashville. She was 80.

President Donald Trump ordered U.S. flags at all public buildings, military bases, and embassies flown at half-staff, directing flags to remain lowered until sunset on September 1, 2026 β€” calling it a mark of respect for the memory of Dolly Parton.

Jolene. I Will Always Love You. 9 to 5. Coat of Many Colors. Over 3,000 songs written. Seven decades on the stage. Eleven Grammy Awards. And a heart bigger than all of it combined.

Her unconditional love for all people was the guiding force for her lasting impact β€” from the hundreds of millions of books donated through her Imagination Library to funding research that helped create a life-saving vaccine used around the world.

She led with love. She never made an enemy when she could make a friend. And her faith β€” quiet, deep, and unshakeable β€” was the foundation of everything she built.

In my tribute video I talk about her life, her songs, her legacy, and what all four pillars of living young looked like in the life of one extraordinary woman.

You cannot change a thought you have not noticed. 🧠

Thought mastery begins with awareness β€” and most people have never truly watched what their mind does when no one is looking.

Napoleon Hill's most practical tool for influencing the subconscious mind was autosuggestion β€” the deliberate, emotionally charged repetition of a thought until the subconscious accepts it as truth. Not wishful thinking. Not pretending. Deliberate planting.

Your mental practice this week: catch your three most recurring negative thoughts β€” the ones that come back without invitation. Write them down. Write one replacement for each that is true, faith-filled, and in the present tense. Then speak the replacements every morning before the world gets access to your mind.

What you plant in your mind grows. Whether you tend it or not. πŸ™

Napoleon Hill called the subconscious mind a field β€” ready to receive any seed you plant in it and grow it into physical reality. It does not discriminate between positive and negative. It grows what is planted.

Today's full video covers:

Romans 12:2 β€” be transformed by the renewing of your mind. πŸ™

That is not a one-time event. That is a daily subconscious programming practice.

Napoleon Hill said the subconscious mind is reached and influenced through repetition, emotion, and faith. And when you read Scripture through that lens β€” the entire devotional life God calls us to is a subconscious reprogramming strategy.

Daily prayer. Daily Scripture. Daily stillness before God. Isaiah 26:3 β€” you will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are stayed on you. Proverbs 23:7 β€” as a man thinks in his heart, so is he.

Your subconscious mind does not know the difference between what is real and what you repeatedly feel. It only knows what you plant. ❀️

Napoleon Hill spent decades observing this truth β€” the subconscious works day and night without discrimination between positive and negative input. Whatever emotion you repeat most consistently gets planted β€” and eventually grows into the circumstances and habits of your life.

Fear plants fear. Doubt plants doubt. But faith plants faith. Gratitude plants gratitude.

Philippians 4:8 β€” think on whatever is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, and admirable. That is not just spiritual wisdom. It is a subconscious programming strategy written thousands of years before Napoleon Hill discovered the same principle.
