Earlier this year, we put a call out for moments of celebration—big or small—for a video project. You all blew us away, sharing more photos and videos than we could use for that project.
The moments you shared were so meaningful that we knew we needed another way to honor them. National Cancer Survivors Month felt like the perfect opportunity.
The National Cancer Institute defines a cancer survivor as a person from the time of diagnosis through the rest of life. Survivorship can look different for everyone.
In this first collection of Moments of Survivorship, you'll see people returning to the soccer field as a coach after a glioblastoma diagnosis, ringing the end-of-chemo bell, celebrating with friends, taking a first walk outside after major lung surgery, choosing the lighting color for radiation treatment, finding a yard decorated by loved ones to mark the halfway point of chemotherapy, experiencing a Christmas surprise while spending the holiday inpatient, sharing a late-night dinner arranged by a nurse, and ringing the end-of-treatment bell with an unexpected twist.
These moments may seem ordinary to some, but they carry extraordinary meaning. They reflect the many ways people continue living, connecting, celebrating, and creating memories after a cancer diagnosis.
Throughout June, we'll be sharing more of the beautiful photos and videos you entrusted to us. Thank you for allowing us to be part of these moments and for sharing your stories with our community.
