💛 Most excited about joining UTHSCSA: “From the social to my interview day, I could sense how much everyone cared for each other. I felt like I was sitting in a room with all of my friends! I already feel like that with my co-residents.”

👟 Hospital shoe of choice: OOFOS clogs (but she’s open to recommendations!)

🍪 Hidden talent: Making fire brown butter chocolate chip cookies

🌿 Current hyperfixation: Anything pandan flavored

✈️ Favorite part of MS4: Spending quality time with family and friends, plus celebrating graduation with a trip to Spain and Portugal with her fiancé

Farewell Friday: Fellow Edition ❤️ Today we’re celebrating Dr. Paulina Ramirez! While we’re excited for all that’s ahead, we’re going to miss her compassion, thoughtfulness, and unwavering dedication to her patients and team.

🏥 Where she’s headed: Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders, Fort Worth, Texas

❤️ Favorite fellowship memories: It’s hard to choose just one because it was never one moment—it was all of the little moments. The conference room conversations, hugs, and even tears shared with residents and co-fellows who became lifelong friends after some of the toughest weeks. Grape jelly Uncrustables and apple juice after long days in the OR. Watching medical students and residents grow in confidence over the course of their rotations. Being mentored not only by incredible faculty, but by every member of our team—from our nurses and OR staff to everyone who made patient care possible.
Most of all, I’ll always remember walking into and out of the hospital every day, even after the longest shifts, with an overwhelming sense of pride and gratitude for the privilege of caring for patients during some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives. That is something I’ll carry with me forever.

⭐️ Advice for residents: Give yourself grace and believe in yourself—residency is tough, but so are you. ❤️ Trust that every challenge is shaping you into the physician you’re meant to become. On the extra hard days, it’s okay to treat yourself to some ice cream. Celebrate the small victories, learn from the setbacks, and don’t forget to thank the people who stand beside you through it all. Your support system carries you more than you realize, and you don’t get to the finish line alone. Miss you guys already!

Dr. Ramirez reminds us that the most meaningful parts of training aren’t just the milestones—they’re the people, the quiet moments of encouragement, and the privilege of caring for others together. We know she’ll make an incredible impact in Fort Worth and we will always look up to her dedication and care for her patients. We’ll miss you, Paulina! ❤️

A weekend well spent in Lake Geneva! 🌊📚

Our residents presented their research at the IDSOG Annual Meeting, shared their work with colleagues from around the country, and brought home new ideas to continue advancing patient care. We couldn’t be prouder! 👏✨

A few weeks ago we had our Resident Research Day and Seitchik Memorial Lecture! 3rd year residents presented their completed research projects, and our 1st year residents presented their proposals that they will work on the next couple of years. We also had an amazing lecture from our guest speaker, Dr. Corton!

Farewell Friday: Fellow Edition ❤️ Today we’re celebrating Dr. Alix Pfeiffer as she begins her next chapter right here as faculty!

🏥 Where she’s headed: Maternal-Fetal Medicine Faculty, UT Health San Antonio

❤️ Favorite fellowship memories: “Gosh, there are SO many…..from delivering my two beautiful girls to saving lives to counseling patients/families to presenting research at SMFM to collaborating with colleagues around the country to Bieberchella on L&D to graduation dinners to doing outreach and to mentoring/teaching students - EVERYTHING. This program gave me everything and I’m so eternally grateful”

⭐️ Advice for residents: “Be comfortable with being uncomfortable—living in that space makes you grow to lengths you probably never thought you would. Always go the extra mile for your patients and colleagues; every opportunity makes a lasting impact. Finally, always believe in something greater than yourself. It keeps the mundane away.”

We are incredibly fortunate she’ll continue to teach, mentor, and care for patients here at UT Health San Antonio, and we can’t wait to watch her continue making an impact as faculty. 💙

Last night shift for the first Night Float crew of the year ✔️🌙✨

They did it!!!!! Through late nights, nonstop pages, and plenty of teamwork—all with smiles and cowgirl scrub caps 🤠. So proud of this crew. On to the next rotation! 💛

Farewell Friday: Fellow Edition 💖 This week we’re celebrating our REI fellow Dr. Annie Roshong as she heads to the Pacific Northwest to begin her next chapter!

🏥 Where she’s headed: Madigan Army Medical Center at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Tacoma, WA

❤️ Favorite fellowship memories: Her graduation party, which reminded her just how many incredible people have surrounded and supported her throughout fellowship. (Honorable mention: the Jonas Brothers concert, which was an absolute highlight 🎶✨)

⭐️ Advice for residents: “Always be yourself. I know that sounds silly, but do everything you can to be who you are, no matter what residency throws at you. Your patients will appreciate your authenticity.”

💪 Bonus advice: Move your body when you can—your future self will thank you!

Over the past 3 years, Dr. Roshong has somehow managed to do it all: feed her residents Chick-Fil-A during every Gyn Triage shift, complete a marathon, earn her certification in Lifestyle Medicine, be promoted to Army Major, crush CrossFit workouts, and still make plenty of time for her boys Chester and Charlie 🐶🐶. We love her and can’t wait to see all the amazing things she’ll accomplish in Tacoma! 💕

✨ Farewell Friday: Dr. Erick Holder ✨

Next stop: Maternal-Fetal Medicine fellowship in Phoenix at Creighton University School of Medicine! 🌵☀️🩺

Favorite Memories: operating with Dr Lozano and running around labor and delivery with Drs Creedon, Thomson, Mankus, and co. So many of our faculty shelter us, mentor us, challenge us, and love us. Their excellent patient care is so admirable, and I can only hope to be a fraction of the amazing physicians they are. Our family planning rotation in CA is a difficult, but life-changing experience, and I recommend that everyone take that opportunity! And wear fun socks always!

Advise: 💙 “Always give grace to everyone—patients, co-residents, attendings, nurses, and staff. You never know what someone is going through; give each person the grace you would want to receive at your lowest. Even small words of encouragement can be huge in lifting burdens! Being goofy is free. 😎🪿”
