Some of the most meaningful moments in hospice care begin with something simple: showing up and being there for someone.
For Boots Miller, volunteering with Crest began after Pastor Ed Tello shared that Veterans on service were in need of companionship. Having served alongside his church community, Boots felt called to step in and spend time with those who could use a friend.
One of his most meaningful experiences has been with a patient who, at 100 years old, had never believed in God. Through many visits and conversations, Boots shared his own story of faith and what the Lord had done in his life. Over time, those conversations became a meaningful part of their relationship, and the patient eventually found his own faith in Jesus.
For Boots, volunteering is about more than simply giving his time. It is about connection, conversation, and being present for someone during an important chapter of their life.
Outside of volunteering with Crest, Boots enjoys golfing, spending time with his family, and serving through his church’s prison ministry.
We’re grateful for the time, compassion, and genuine presence Boots brings to the patients and families we serve. Thank you, Boots, for being willing to simply show up and make a difference in the lives of others.
