En esta isla viví momentos muy duros: noches interminables de estudio, contando cada centavo y viviendo prácticamente sin dinero, pero con el alma entera puesta en forjar un sueño: convertirme en un “eye doctor “

Examining our youngest patients👶takes plenty of patience, songs, and games, thorough fundus evaluation is critical.
Children rarely report vision deficits, and an indirect ophthalmoscopic or widefield retinal image is our frontline defense to detect serious pathology early—such as leukocoria (an abnormal white pupillary reflex 📸). An altered red reflex can indicate sight- or life-threatening conditions, including:
Retinoblastoma
Pediatric cataracts
Coats’ disease
Retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) sequelae
Early screening preserves sight and health. Don’t skip your child’s comprehensive pediatric eye exam especially if you as a parent noticing something is not clicking right 🤔

Tienes una “telita blanca” o amarillenta en el ojo? Cuidado con automedicarte. 👁️⚠️
Esa carnosidad en la esquina nasal suele comenzar como una pingüécula y, si avanza sobre la córnea, se convierte en un pterigión. Es una respuesta proliferativa del tejido conjuntival ante el daño crónico por radiación UV, polvo y resequedad.
Lo que NUNCA debes hacer:
Tallarte los ojos: La fricción mecánica acelera la inflamación y el crecimiento del tejido.
Usar gotas descongestionantes como Visine, Solo producen vasoconstricción temporal y un efecto rebote severo, empeorando la irritación y la resequedad.
