What happens when people stop seeing each other as opponents and start seeing each other as human? đź’ś

🎬 Remember the Titans reminds us that trust begins when we look beyond assumptions and take time to understand each other's stories.

In Therapy Through the Screen, we're exploring trust & belonging—and how feeling seen, heard, and accepted can transform relationships.

Connection begins when curiosity becomes stronger than assumption.

Parents often ask me how to know if their teen needs counseling.

And honestly, there isn't one specific sign that gives you the answer.

Teens can be moody. They can pull away sometimes. They can have difficult weeks at school or argue more at home. Those things alone don't necessarily mean they need counseling.

What may be worth paying attention to is a pattern or a noticeable change from how your teen typically functions.

For example:

— They’re withdrawing from friends or activities they used to enjoy
— You’re noticing changes in their mood, sleep, or appetite
— They seem more irritable or there is frequent conflict at home
— They’re having a harder time managing big emotions
— Their academic performance has changed without a clear explanation
— They’re expressing that they feel “stuck,” anxious, overwhelmed, or unable to cope

None of these automatically mean something is wrong.

But they can be signs that your teen may benefit from having someone outside of the family to talk to.

Counseling doesn't have to mean something is “wrong” with your teen. Sometimes it simply gives them a space to process what they're experiencing, learn how to manage difficult emotions, and feel heard without having to worry about having all the right words.

And parents don't have to have all the answers either.

Sometimes the most important thing you can do is let your teen know:

“You don't have to figure this out by yourself. I'm here, and support is available when you're ready.”

If you've been wondering whether counseling could be helpful for your teen, it's okay to reach out and ask questions. You don't have to wait until things feel overwhelming to seek support.

🌱 I’m Accepting New Clients!

My calendar is officially open, and I’m currently accepting new clients for appointments beginning September 1st.

If you’ve been thinking about starting counseling, this may be the right time to take that first step.

I work with clients who may be navigating anxiety, stress, self-esteem, life transitions, relationships, career questions, or simply need a supportive space to process what they’re experiencing.

I offer both in-person counseling in San Antonio and telehealth services throughout Texas.

Counseling doesn't have to mean that something is “wrong.” Sometimes, it’s simply about having a space where you can slow down, be heard, gain perspective, and work toward where you want to be.

If you're ready to get started, appointments are now available to schedule:

Sometimes people don't reach out for counseling—not because they don't want support, but because of all the questions that come with making that first decision.

Will I be judged?
What if I don't know what to say?
What if counseling doesn't help?
Can I afford it?

If you've ever had those questions, you're not alone.

You don't have to have everything figured out before you reach out. You don't need the right words or a perfect explanation of what's going on. Sometimes you just need a place to start.

And if cost has been one of the things holding you back, affordable counseling will be available as I continue my graduate internship under supervision.

I'm currently on my semester break and will begin seeing clients again the week of August 24, when my fall semester begins. If you're interested in starting counseling, you can reach out now to learn more or get scheduled for that time.

My goal is to create a space where you can show up exactly as you are—without judgment and without needing to have all the answers.

You don't have to know exactly what you need yet.

You can simply start with, "I think I might need some support."🤍

If you've been thinking about reaching out, send me a message or visit my website to learn more.

✨ A New Chapter in My Counseling Journey ✨

I’m excited to share that I’ll be continuing my graduate counseling internship this fall at Helen’s Project!

I’m grateful for this opportunity to continue growing as a counselor while creating a supportive and welcoming space for clients as they navigate their own journeys.

My calendar is now open, and I am currently accepting appointments beginning September 1st.

I’ll be offering both in-person and telehealth counseling, with availability designed to accommodate a variety of schedules.

If you’ve been considering counseling or have been waiting for the right time to get started, you can now go ahead and book your appointment for September.

I’m excited for this next chapter and look forward to meeting new clients and continuing to create a space where you feel heard, supported, and understood.

Can healing happen without fixing anything?

🌿 Shrinking reminds us that grief doesn't ask for the perfect words—sometimes the healthiest thing a relationship needs is someone willing to just stay.

In this episode of Therapy Through the Screen, we're unpacking the way grief moves through every character on the show—and what their story teaches us about loss, showing up, and why presence matters more than solutions.

🎬 Watch the reel, then tell me:
Has someone ever helped you just by staying, without trying to fix it?

Life transitions are one of the most common reasons people seek counseling — and often the least expected.

We talk about transitions as if they're straightforward: a new job, a new city, a new relationship status. But transitions ask something much bigger of us. They ask us to let go of who we were and figure out who we're becoming.

That process — even when the change is something you wanted — can feel disorienting and hard to explain to the people around you.

Counseling during a life transition can help with:

— Processing what you're leaving behind
— Getting clear on what you actually want next
— Managing anxiety about uncertainty
— Reconnecting with your own values and identity
— Building confidence in the next chapter

You don't have to have it all figured out before you reach out. That's literally what the space is for.

A quick availability update đź’š

I’m currently between semesters, which means I’m taking a short pause from seeing counseling clients while I transition into my Fall semester.

I’ll be able to begin seeing clients again the week of August 24th.

If you’ve recently reached out, thank you for your patience and understanding while I’m away. I’m looking forward to getting back to my clients and continuing this work in the Fall.

In the meantime, I’ll still be sharing counseling tidbits, reflections, and a few things I’ve been learning along the way here on the page.

Thank you for your patience and understanding during this brief pause. I look forward to connecting with you again soon. đź’š
