As a bilingual Spanish-speaking therapist, Gaby brings a culturally sensitive, collaborative approach to therapy. Meet Maggie Bean, LMFT-S 👋🖤

Co-owner of ABC Counseling Inc., therapist, supervisor, metalhead mom, horror lover, photographer, and proud nerd/misfit.

Maggie works with kids (11+), teens, adults, couples, and families—especially anxious overthinkers, burned-out people pleasers, helping professionals, and anyone who's tired of carrying everything alone.

Her approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, trauma-informed, and refreshingly human. No pretending you have it all together. No judgment for being a little messy. And definitely no treating you like a worksheet with legs.

Maggie provides therapy in San Antonio, TX and virtual therapy across Texas, with specialties including trauma & PTSD, anxiety, relationships, self-worth, and LGBTQ+, kink, and poly-affirming care.

Basically: come as you are. Weirdos welcome. 🖤

Therapist: “What do you do when you feel overwhelmed?”

Me: “I make a list of everything I need to do, stare at it, add three more things, then panic alphabetically.”

Overwhelm can make even simple tasks feel impossible.

Try this today: Pick one tiny next step. Not the whole mountain. Just the next pebble.

You do not have to arrive at therapy with a perfectly organized explanation of what is wrong.

You can start with:

“I don’t know where to begin.”
“I feel stuck.”
“I keep reacting in ways I don’t like.”
“I’m tired of pretending I’m okay.”
“I think I need help.”

That is enough of a beginning.

Burnout is more than being tired.

Burnout can look like:

Feeling emotionally drained
Losing motivation
Feeling cynical or detached
Snapping at people you care about
Dreading things you used to handle
Needing rest, but not feeling restored by rest

You are not lazy. You may be overloaded.

Support can help you sort out what needs to change — internally, externally, or both.

Family patterns are a little like group texts.

Sometimes everyone is reacting to something from three conversations ago.

Family therapy can help slow the conversation down, identify patterns, improve communication, and create new ways of responding to each other.

The goal is not to decide who is “the problem.”
The goal is to understand what keeps happening — and what can change.

Ever feel exhausted... even though you're still getting everything done?

Burnout doesn't always look like falling apart.

Sometimes it looks like being the person everyone can count on. The one who says yes. The one who keeps pushing. The one who never slows down.

From the outside, it looks like ambition.

On the inside, it can feel like constant pressure, guilt for resting, and the sense that you're running on empty.

If you've ever thought, "I just need to get through this week," only to find yourself saying it again the next week... this blog is for you.

💙 Read: When Burnout Looks Like Ambition

You might recognize yourself sooner than you think—and discover why rest isn't something you have to earn.

There are a lot of misconceptions about therapy—and those myths can keep people from getting support when they need it most.

The truth is:

✨ You don't have to be in crisis to benefit from therapy.
✨ Asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness.
✨ Therapy isn't about someone telling you what to do—it's about gaining tools, insight, and support to navigate life's challenges.

Whether you're dealing with anxiety, relationship stress, grief, burnout, life transitions, or simply want to understand yourself better, therapy can provide a safe space to grow.

What’s one myth about therapy you've heard before?

Share it in the comments—we'd love to help separate fact from fiction.

Relationship tip: Try a softer start.

Instead of:
“You never listen to me.”

Try:
“I feel disconnected when we don’t get time to talk. Could we set aside 15 minutes tonight?”

A softer start does not mean your feelings are less important. It means you are making it easier for the other person to hear you.

Couples therapy can help partners move from blame to understanding.
