June is recognized as National Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Awareness Month.
Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is the third most common psychiatric diagnosis among Veterans seen in the Veterans Health Administration (VHA). Approximately 13 million Americans suffer from PTSD in a given year.
PTSD can be debilitating, leading to a decline in quality of life and causing significant medical, mental health, interpersonal, and social impairment. Many people struggling with PTSD don't get the help they need - but effective treatments are out there!
