In Loving Memory of Yolanda R. Ozuna

Yolanda R. Ozuna of San Antonio, Texas, was born May 26, 1961, and passed away peacefully on August 9, 2026. Leaving behind a lifetime of memories and the love of her family.

Yolanda was a beloved daughter and sister who brought her own special joy and personality to the lives of those around her. She found happiness in simple things and had a special love for playing with Mardi Gras beads and the strings from towels. Those little things brought her happiness and became special memories that her family and friends will always cherish.

Yolanda is survived by her mother, Lilly Ozuna; her brothers, Antonio (Debra) Ozuna III, David (Kim) Ozuna, and Carlos (Carrie Anne) Ozuna; and her sister, Carolina (Richard) Suarez. She was preceded in death by her beloved father, Antonio G. Ozuna Jr.

Yolanda's life was a precious gift to her family. Although she faced challenges in her life, those challenges did not define her. She was loved, valued, and an important part of her family. Her memory will live on through the stories, memories, and love shared by those who knew her best.

Yolanda will always be remembered for her unique personality, the simple things that brought her happiness, and the special place she held in the hearts of her family.

May she rest peacefully, free from all life's struggles, and forever surrounded by love.

Rest in peace, Yolanda. You will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.

Rafael Arturo Rivera

With deep sorrow and hearts full of sadness, we announce the passing of Rafael Arturo Rivera, affectionately known to his loved ones as "Rafi" or "Artu." At 64 years of age, he went home to be with the Lord this past August 2026 in the city of San Antonio, Texas.

Born on the beautiful island of Puerto Rico, Rafi embraced his great passion for the skies from a young age. He dedicated 15 years of his professional life as a pilot for American Airlines, where his discipline, talent, and dedication led him to proudly achieve the rank of Captain. In addition to his love for aviation, he shared a great enthusiasm for automobiles. Those who had the privilege of knowing him will always remember him as a happy, intelligent, and helpful man who left an unforgettable mark on his family and friends.

His legacy of love lives on through his family. He is survived with deep sadness by his mother, Elisa Rivera; his sister, Grisel (Torres) Rivera; his brother-in-law, Danny Torres; his nephew, Michael Cruz; and his nieces, Michelle Alarcón, Stephanie Torres, and Grace Torres.

His memory will always be a part of those who shared his journey. He will live eternally in the hearts of all who had the joy of knowing and loving him.

Melanie Ann Kolodziej, 41, passed away on July 30, 2026 in San Antonio, Texas.

Melanie was born in San Antonio, Texas to Marvin and Margaret Kolodziej on March 14, 1985. Her favorite job was working at Alamo Cafe for over 4 years.

Melanie is preceded in death by her father Marvin Kolodziej. Melanie survived by her mother Margaret Kolodziej; sister, Megan Hernandez (Daniel) and brother, Matthew (Patrice), nephews and nieces, Vincent, Isabel Hernandez, and Amira, Layla Kolodziej.

The family of Melanie wishes to extend their sincere thanks to Dr. Melo and his staff at the Main Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, TX.

Sandra Lee “Sandy” Gentry

Sandra Lee “Sandy” Gentry, 83, was born November 4, 1942, in Asheville, North Carolina, in Buncombe County, to Howard Richard Wright and Jessie Ruby Austen Wright. Sandy passed away on Friday, July 24, 2026, surrounded by her daughters and grandchildren.

Sandy was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, wife, and friend. Family was an important part of her life, and the family she built became a lasting part of her legacy.

Sandy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Sgt. Jerry C. Gentry; her precious firstborn daughter, Donna Lynn Burris; her parents, Howard Richard Wright and Jessie Ruby Austen Wright; her brothers, Robert Ray Wright Sr., Norman Dean Wright, Howard Richard Wright, and Marion Pat Wright; and her baby sister, Sharon Wright, who passed away at birth.

She is survived by her sisters, Louise Trimble, Ann Wright, and Joy Wilson.

Sandy is also survived by her daughters, Sharon Schunek, Nancy Burris, Malynda Gentry, Jerri Gentry, and Tabitha Gentry, as well as her honorary daughter, Jennifer Douglas.

Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Amy Gentry, Jessica Martinez, KC Hasdorff, Bradley Schunek, Melanie García, Amanda Rich, Shelby Castro, Jacob Becerra, Justin Becerra, Elijah Gentry, Noelle Halsell, Sadie Ekwurzel, and Presley Ekwurzel.

She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Isaac Mendoza, Avery Mendoza, Noah Mendoza, D’Lynn Martinez, Daisy Martinez, Hallie Schunek, Marlie Schunek, Joaquin Castro, and Navie Benjamin; and her great-great-granddaughters, twin girls, Emily Mendoza and Clara Mendoza, as well as extended family and loved ones whose lives she touched.

Sandy dedicated more than 22 years of her career to City Public Service (CPS) in San Antonio. She began her career there on November 4, 1980, as a security guard at the Tuttle Plant. Through years of hard work and dedication, Sandy went on to run the Accounts Payable office before retiring on February 1, 2003.

Sandy was a hard worker, a strong woman, and a devoted mother who gave deeply of herself to her family. She was generous and giving by nature and was always willing to help someone in need. Whether it was family, a friend, or someone who simply needed a helping hand, Sandy did what she could to help others. She faced life with determination and grace, ran a tight household, and kept an exceptionally clean home—something everyone who knew her could attest to.

She loved Elvis Presley and enjoyed crocheting, creating things with her own hands for the people she loved. Her strong work ethic and ability to take care of a home and family were simply part of who Sandy was.

Sandy had a deep and unwavering faith in Christ and lived with the assurance of her salvation. In her final days, she found peace in knowing she was going home to be with her beloved husband, Sgt. Jerry C. Gentry, whom she loved dearly and missed deeply.

She will be deeply missed by many and will always hold a place in our hearts forever.

Lucy Arellano, 81, went to be with the Lord on July 29, 2026. She was born in San Antonio, Texas to Ysabel and Mary Arellano on October 25, 1944. Lucy is preceded in death by her parents Ysabel and Mary Arellano, and sisters Rose Marie Geff and Encarnacion Valverde.

She is survived by her loving children Jose(Loretta), Mark, Christina(Jimmy), Adam(Allison), and Jacob. Brother Michael (Nena) Garza. Grandchildren Christian, Joe, Jimmy Jr., Jenieve, Brandon and Denise. Three great-grandchildren Jameson, Jaylen, and Wyndham.

Lucy will be greatly missed but never forgotten!

MSGT (USAF) Gary Dennis Brewer

Gary Dennis Brewer September 22, 1942 - July 25, 2026 MSgt Gary Dennis Brewer (USAF, Ret.), age 83, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away peacefully at his home on July 25, 2026, surrounded by the love of his wife and friends. Born on September 22, 1942, in Middletown, Ohio. Gary was the son of Vernon D. Brewer and Nellie Henze.

As a young man, he dedicated his life to duty, honor, and service by joining the United States Air Force, where he rose to the rank of Master Sergeant before retiring. Following his military career, Gary continued to serve his country proudly in the civil service for more than twenty years. Gary was a man of deep and enduring faith, a devout Christian who found great fulfillment in attending church and spending time studying the Bible. Beyond his service and faith, he loved to explore the world, often traveling with his wife, Myong, especially on cruises to destinations near and far. Above all, Gary was a devoted family man.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Myong (Kim) Brewer; his two loving daughters from a previous marriage, Rebecca Brewer and Michelle Brewer Hettiaratchi; four granddaughters, Melina Hettiaratchi, Desiree Brewer Hyatt, Pavanee H. Hinton, and Evanthi Hettiaratchi; and ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Vernon D. Brewer; his mother, Nellie Henze; and his stepfather, Clinton A. Henze. Your earthly mission is fulfilled, and now you rest with the Father in heaven. Your memory will live on in the hearts of many. Rest in His eternal peace. Funeral services will be held on August 11, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Chapel Hill Memorial Funeral Home in San Antonio, Texas. A military burial with honors will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. After the military service, there will be a reception at King Buffet:
