Birth Prep begins long before you think it does. Education, Empowerment, Movement, Mindset all go into our care.
If I had to choose two things to talk about when it comes to birth prep, it would be:
1. Knowing your options and
2. Surrendering to the Process
As a birthing woman, you have many decisions to make, from your prenatal team (midwife or OB, doula, chiropractor, pelvic floor PT, massage therapist) to your birth place, to the medical details and even the details that set the mood in your birthing space. You may have options that you are unaware of. We are part of a well connected community and that brings so many possibilities to our patients.
Surrender is a mindset that begins long before you are in labor. Surrender doesn’t mean you don’t plan and prepare. It means you plan and prepare to be flexible.
It means you ask questions and are open to other possibilities and paths.
•What is my ultimate goal?
•If this door closes, what windows do I have?
•What does my body and/or baby need?
These are conversations that we have throughout care sometimes even before conception, because a mindset takes time to develop and the transformation that comes with pregnancy and birth is life changing.
Let’s get started.
