🔥 FIVE DAYS UNTIL GAME DAY! 🏒🐦

Task Force Apollo is kicking off the season September 11 with UTSA Roadrunners Ice Hockey at the Ice & Golf Center on Henderson Pass!

Puck drops at 7:00 PM — or 1900 for all you military nerds. 🇺🇸

Come out and support the Roadrunners and the mission behind Task Force Apollo. Bring yourself. Bring the family. Bring a buddy who loves hockey—or somebody who’s never seen a game and wants to find out what it’s all about.

And if none of that convinces you…come watch some dudes smash into each other and maybe throw some hands. 😂🥊🏒

More importantly, whenever I get the opportunity, I’ll be talking about Task Force Apollo—what we do, why we started it, and why this mission matters. It’s about bringing people together, building community, and making sure our veterans and first responders know there’s still a team waiting for them.

Hockey. Brotherhood. Community. Mission.

Where did the name Task Force Apollo come from?

Well…

After I came out of the hospital, I took some time away from work and started working on me.

I began building what I call the Dragon’s Den, but that name is a story for another post. It started with two dumbbells, and little by little, it grew.

At the same time, South Texas was going through an intense summer with day after day of triple digit heat. My garage became my sanctuary.

It was stupid hot.

Iraq hot.

Inside that garage, I pushed myself through some crazy, intense workouts. There were days I was crying, broken, puking, and wondering how I had gotten to that point in my life.

Through all of it, Apollo was there.

He watched me. He stayed beside me. He lay with me in pools of sweat and tears, and he never left.

He couldn’t understand what I was going through, but somehow, he knew I needed someone beside me. He didn’t try to fix anything. He simply stayed.

So when it came time to name this group, there was only one name that felt right:

Task Force Apollo.

Apollo represents what this mission is built on: loyalty, presence, healing, and the reminder that none of us should have to carry the weight alone.

From the moment I came home, he never left my side.

And this is still where you’ll find him, right beside me and probably waiting for some of my food.

I love that dude.

He is my best friend.

That is where Task Force Apollo began.

I have spoken about two people who made a lasting impact on my life and helped shape why we started Task Force Apollo. But there is one more person I cannot and will not ever forget.

His name is Jason Harmon.

Jason was my boss. He brought me further into the construction industry and helped develop me when I didn’t know s**t about construction, not even how to read a tape measure. He taught me, challenged me, and gave me the opportunity to grow.

On July 5, 2023, Jason knew something was wrong. That was the day I admitted I was going to take my own life.

He didn’t hesitate.

Jason shut down the project I was working on and made me the priority. He locked up my truck, told me to get into his, and drove me home. When Kris arrived, I told them what I had been preparing to do.

Jason secured my gun. Then he and Kris took me to the VA and stayed with me until I was admitted to the mental health ward, where I remained under observation for several days.

Jason did more than respond to a crisis that day. He stepped in when I had finally broken, when I needed help and was finally ready to accept it.

And he never stopped showing up.

To this day, Jason checks on me and continues to guide me, both personally and professionally. I am here because someone paid attention. Because someone was willing to stop everything, take control of the situation, and stay by my side.

That is leadership.

That is brotherhood.

And that is the spirit behind Task Force Apollo.

Jason, I will never forget what you did for me. I will always be grateful.

How Do You Attend a Task Force Apollo Event?

It begins with being honest about where you are and deciding that you are ready to make a change.

Task Force Apollo brings together veterans, business owners, professionals, and other men who have finally said, “Enough.” These are men carrying weight they rarely talk about, ready to face it alongside others who understand.

We intentionally keep each group small. That allows us to spend more time focusing on what truly matters YOU. Every man receives personal attention, room for honest conversation, and the time to focus on himself and begin doing the work.

We focus on developing the whole man. That means learning to eat better, getting back into shape, stepping onto the mats to train Jiu Jitsu, and using other time-tested tools that build discipline, confidence, resilience, and accountability. These lessons carry into your health, relationships, leadership, and professional life.

Nonprofits and other organizations do important work, and the support they provide can be valuable. But no organization, program, or person can force lasting change upon you. That decision must come from within. You must want a better direction, take responsibility for your life, and commit to making positive changes.

Task Force Apollo can surround you with the right men, support, and tools—but you are the one who must show up, fully focus on yourself, and do the work.

When we come together, we stand as a team. For that time, no man carries his burden alone. We support one another, speak honestly, and help each other move forward.

If this speaks to you, reach out. Let’s connect, talk about what you are looking for, and see whether Task Force Apollo is the right fit for you—and whether this is a brotherhood you want to be part of.

Task Force Apollo is a small group of veterans and one pretty cool civilian who come together to completely disconnect from the noise of everyday life.

Our mission is simple: reset, reconnect, and get back to what matters.

This year, Task Force Apollo is heading to Colorado for an unforgettable Bison Experience 🦬.

We’ll be learning from Donny Dust, getting hands on with primitive skills, creating stone hand tools, and learning how to respectfully process a bison while gaining a deeper appreciation for everything this incredible animal provides.

This isn’t just an adventure. It’s about brotherhood, learning, gratitude, and reconnecting with ourselves, each other, and the land.

We’ll be sharing the journey along the way, so get ready for some great stories, photos, and posts.

Follow Task Force Apollo on Facebook and Instagram and come along for the adventure.

Life doesn’t stop.

Careers, families, injuries, deployments, loss, stress, and responsibilities have a way of pulling us in a hundred different directions.

But neither healing nor growth happens by standing still.

That’s why we created Task Force Apollo and Nomad Jiu Jitsu.

Task Force Apollo exists to build a community where veterans, first responders, and everyday people can connect, heal, share stories, and find purpose through service, leadership, and brotherhood.

Nomad was born from the belief that no matter where life takes you, you never stop learning, never stop growing, and never stop training. A Nomad isn’t tied to one place it’s a mindset. Train wherever you are. Learn from everyone. Build friendships everywhere.

Every shirt we create represents resilience, discipline, and the journey we all share.

If you’ve ever had to fight through adversity, start over, carry a burden nobody else could see, or simply refuse to quit you’re already one of us.

Join the mission.

Train. Learn. Grow. Serve.
